If Flex magazine was rattling the tin cup for him, I figured he had to be in pretty dire straits with those medical bills. Especially thanks to the draconian new bankruptcy laws passed by the corporate whores in Congress. Anyone know how's he getting by these days?
-
Someone should have had a heart-to-heart talk with Mike about the importance of health insurance :(
-
flex reported a few months ago, that he is working for some collection agency in Cali. who knows. hope he is ok. he was always one of the good guys. never heard a bad word about him.

seriously, who has time for insurance when you have 23" guns?

Yeah, I've never heard a bad word about him :-\
-
Didn't heart disease (or something like that) run in the family? Talk about pressing his luck anyway.
-
I used to see Mike in the gym all the time. Real nice guy. Good sense of humor... always took time to sign autographs & answer questions. I wish him the best.
-
In an interview he said he is a Bail Bondsman, liking and doing pretty well.

I read in flex he used to do debt collecting - I don't know if he was breaking thumbs down on the docks like Rocky Balboa, but I got the impression that it was for loan sharks or some other sinister operation . . .

they don't make bailbondsmen like this anymore.
Can anyone name the character and the movie?
-
and the name of the character he played?
-
Didn't you blow my mind this time?
-
Hey 240, Has Lee, Rhino or Vince offered to bodyguard you at the PDI Show, with all of this nonsense from Chick, it may not be a bad idea.
I have that covered ;)

:o Wow, really? You would of thought someone with the success and profile Matarazzo had, he woul dbe set financially. That really sucks.
-
I have that covered ;)

i feel safe in every BBing environment. With all the laughter and insightful thinking that I bring to this arena, I am sure I'll be welcomed with open arms, but my friends and adversaries alike!

240 I bring 2 guns everywhere I go.
My left biceps, and my right biceps.

can anybody ballpark what he made in endorsements ,if any, contest winnings, weider contract?
-
After drugs and taxes: $12.37
Nice, I think you can sponsor a child in Tanzania for a month.
;D
-
does anybody know what a standard Weider contracts pays? seriously
-
Mike is actually doing great. He has a new wife, a baby, and is making a pretty decent living as a bail bondsman. If you think a Weider contract is big money, you are mistaken. They dropped him like a hot potato when he became ill...no loyalty.
-

I think he got $30,000 a year from Weider
-
[Weider] dropped him like a hot potato when he became ill...no loyalty.
I'm shocked - shocked! - to hear that Joe Weider screwed over a bodybuilder.
-
I have that covered ;)
Tazer or Pepper Spray?
-
personally
I would advise you spare your girl the humiliation of this maiden voyage
I'm going to need someone to bail me out of jail.

I feel zero sympathy for Mad Mazz......regardless of a heart condition that ran in his family, he'd been pressin his luck for years by annually partaking in a serious illegal bb drug regimen.....eh, some bbs come out ok and some don't.....Mike didn't come out ok. He knew the risks, he had no backup plan.......it was a gamble and he lost.
Next.
-
Enuff about Mike, I want to know the backup plan of the regulars on Getbig, who will take care of them in 10 years when their wrists are worn down from all posting and they don't have insurance :'(
-
matarazzo regularly ate 5 pounds of ground beef a day.
gear or no gear... that is insane.

I doubt it had as much to do with drugs as you think. My money is on the tremendous amount of beef the man consumed over his career. Seven or more meals a day in the offseason is tough on your heart. Not to mention the tremendous mass he carried.

Jesus H. Christ, you could literally make that working at fvcking Home Depot.

That's why most bodybuilders try to get several sponsors. 30 g's just ain't gonna do it. Shit that's poverty by most people's standards. I made more than that while I was working as a security guard while I went to college at about 19.

Yeah, his diet was kind of scary! :o

Fine, the bb lifestyle did him in....some survive and some don't....Mike didn't.

at his age and his health, a new wife and new baby is hardly "doing good". has he even bothered to think about what would happen if he dies in a few years from complications from his bad decisions?
-
Mike was a nice (albeit not intelligent) guy from the wrong side of the tracks in Boston. The best he could have ever hoped for was either laying bricks or being a cop. The fact that he's a washed up bodybuilder doesnt preclude him from still fulfilling that destiny.

Ronnie is not intelligent... to say the least. And, at least until recently, he was still a part-time cop.
Uh... I forgot the point I was trying to make.
Never mind.

they actually kept him on as an athlete way too long to begin with...Special invites to the olympia and what not...Why? The guy never won anything...

He was a popular guy, with the greatest calves, freaky biceps and forearms.
He came short in back and chest department, but he was very popular at time.
Was one of the most frequent guest poser, and also seen many joe weider training tapes.
He was a top 3 finisher in many shows, so every time he earned to compete in the Olympia.
In the olympia, he sucked badly, he ended up finishing dead last, but he was a personality, I wish best for him...

Man of Steels avatar kicks some serious ass, ROFL!

It was sad when he started using synthol :-\
-
when did he start using synthol?
actually, mike said in an interview, that weider kept him on 2 years after his contract.
he spent 15 years being a top pro (one of the most popular).
true, he didnt make the best decisions, but shit happens, even to good guys like mikey.

Near the end of his career you could tell that his arms and shoulders were suspicious :-\
