no, if that was real weight he'd have somebody behind the bar and a guy on the other side, it may be real weight but i doubt he's doing anything more than holding it.

well it looks like arnold is spotting him on one side and who's to say someone else is not on the other?  Maybe off camera?  Who is that on the bench?  Franco?

I am sure there is another guy on the nearest end too, so having someone behind isn't needed.  But you are more than likely right.  He is just holding it. Allot of phot shoots are done this way.  And more than likely that is real weight at the least 405 is real.

It's absolutely real.

He got a two man lift-off and he'll probably do a few negatives, perhaps just some partials. I'd bet on 3-5 negatives, with the spotters helping out on the bottom of each rep.

huh?   ???

Are you saying that the picture is fake?
Title: Re: these real weights?
Post by: tommywishbone on May 10, 2006, 05:25:56 PM
Proof? Actually no... If they are fake plates though, they were used one time & one time only for that picture, then they were never seen again. I've talked to many guys who trained at the original Gold's Gym, including Joe Gold and nobody ever saw any fake plates. Especially those old school thick-lipped 45's being used in the photo. Those would be tough to make out of wood. ;D

So "proof"... no, but they are real.

Edit: I'm guessing that is either Denny Gable or Ken Waller.
