Post by: mizmo on May 16, 2006, 01:54:36 PM
The last few times while squatting Ive have a poking pain on my left lower stomach.Feels kinda like my belt is pinching me,but its comming from the inside.Any ideas? Anyone had this.It doesnt happen when I deadlift,or do barbell rows only heavy squats.

It could simply be a muscle strain...or a hernia.  Exercises like squats that increase intra-abdominal pressure can lead to a hernia if the abdominal wall has a predisposed weakness.  You should get it checked out by your Dr.

Just change squats with somthing else, like step ups, vertical leg presses, angled leg Presses, or hack squats. Heavy squats caused me a pinched nerve in my lower back and comes back when I go heavy.

i think i know exactly what youre talking about.

if the feeling im thinking of is the same as the one youre tlaking about then i know how you feel. i also get a sharp pain in my lower elft abdomin when squatting although i dont get it most of the time. however during a set of 2 i have felt it. i would describe it as almost a burning but the thing you said about your belt pinching you almost hits it on the tee so im pretty sure i have the same feeling. ive ignored it since it doesnt occur frequently and have never felt the need to see a doctor but if you feel it all the time id say see one.

also try squatting with lighter weight just to see if you still have the pain. if you do i would say definitely see a doctor.
