Ive been doing lots of drop sets, lots and lots.. ALot fo leg movments, jus tto get that extra pump in. Especially biceps..I think they are working well- anyone else swear by them?
I stripped the damn preacher bar down 3 times to the bar with no weight and i felt like my biceps were going to explode...it was great, try it if you havent done drop sets in a while..

They're great. Like other intensity techniques like supersets, trisets, partials, cheats, negatives, etc. they're best used some but not all of the time. Some find they can do them continously and still retain the effects.

i really like drop sets.. but i dont do them a lot. only when i can't do a weight that i normally can. or as a shock i.e. triple drops for side laterals. i dont do them alot bc your body can adept to you drop setting and it takes a lot out of you

Drop sets rule my world ;D Best pump in the world :o
-
I do em for preachers espcially. 3 working and 2 drops. drop 10lbs the first time and by five until i get to the bar. They suck but your arms explode.
-
i tend to like reverse drops instead of lowering the weight i keep going up and reducing the reps (start something like tricept pushdowns with 70 lbs at 15-18 reps then work down thru the stack till i get to the bottom with 3 or 4 reps).
or traditional drops at the ends of shoulders with dumbells and lateral raises.
-
i do drop sets but only as a shock before i used to do them in everywork out and the pump would seem to be less and less maybe as a way of my body adapting to it
-
I do drop every now and again. I usually do them on rows or leg presses.
-
Well since I only do 2 work sets to failure for every exercise period, I will sometimes do a drop set with the second set if I am only able to get 8 reps or less with the weight I use.

I LOVE doing these on bi's.....

i tend to use a drop set on the last exercise for each muscle I am working... sometimes the last set is a drop set, sometimes it's the last 2 sets... i think it's a good way to acheive failure when fatigued without the injury dangers of partials or negatives (although I do them as well at different times)

Did them today as the final set for DB Laterals. What a pump! I couldn't get the weights up fully on the last two weights, but my delts looked bigger than I'd ever seen them. Did it aswell on seated DB curls.

Me and my buddy used to do drop sets a lot in high school. We would load up the bench press with all the 10 lb weights in the gym and strip off 20 lbs after each set. It gave us a great burn. The only thing bad about it was when you got to those last two plates and you were only pushing up like 65lbs then a few cheerleaders would happen to walk in the weight room to see what was going on. :-[
Then they say something like "we thought you all were stronger than that."

great for calves, both standing and sitted

i like giant sets for calves... works the shit out of them

Drop sets are AWESOME.
You really have to be careful of overtraining though.
That's why I only throw them in to switch it up.
Although most people love to do drop sets on small muscle groups (bis, tris, etc.) because of the pump, those are the most eaisily overtrained. I tend to avoid them.
-
I mix them in once in awhile on all muscle groups. Theyre great.

I dont buy that overtraining bull shit. I did the first 5 years of training and it wasted my time. Fawk that, GO TILL YOU BLOW.
Today I did for my last set of biceps on preachers quadrouple drops...started with 3 10s on each side, and dropped all the way down to the bare bar!!! It was AWESOME! You just feel like your bicep is gonna pop...
I think its something we all get away from...that goood pump workout..thats what makes you grow- not super heavy sets that dont make you pumped..thats why you see pros doing fast pumping motions. I guess you need heavy once in a while, but you know what I mean

overtraining is a fat ass fairy tale... if you have good nutrition and sleep 8 hours per night and are not overloaded by family/job stress than you can kill yourself in the gym as long as you take a week off a couple of times a year.... i also think there is an individual factor to this.... some people just burn out faster than others

I love drop sets. If I want to shock a muscle and get a tremendous pump, drop sets are right on time. They are especially great for those times I want to take a set past failure and don't have a spotter to help me do forced reps.
-
hey it's whatever works best for you that's something alot of us forget
keep doing them as much as possible i love drop sets to.

drop sets are great, I use them alot when doing laterals for my shoulders.... alot of my other drop sets happen when i do my heaviest set and maybe I bonk at 5 reps instead of maybe 8, so I will immdeiately lower the weight to grind out a few more reps to get a complete set in....
-
They're great. I only use them once every couple months or so for traps, shoulders, and calves. Very intense. The one that taxes me the most is running the rack with standing calf raises. About 20 sets. Only takes about 10 minutes. DOMS is awful.
-
I do drop sets, when I do my last set. I feel like it shoots more blood into that muscle.

my new favorite... REST PAUSE
