I am debating whether or not to buy it used off of amazon.com. Most of the reviews have been negative.
And since I know Flex has the tendency to lie/embellish I don't know if I want to waste 10 bucks.
-
10 bucks is a lot of money. You could buy two spoiled trunks from dereks forum.
-
I've heard it has some lies and involves a lot of self-pity/blaming others for everything. Haven't read it though. Might be interesting just for the names he drops, but you never know what's real and what's fake.
-
i read it...............save your money

Buy it. What the hell. It maybe good for a few laughs. Heck, you can easily spend $10 on a bad movie.
Once you're done reading it, send it to me....... ;)

I read it and enjoyed it
I assume he was truthful throughout becuase he didn't mention ninjas

People talk about getting all these other bodybuilders on here, I'd like to see Flex here. Hearing from him and possibly him sharing some stories might open our eyes a bit more on the man.

I thought he had stopped doing that. Honestly I think the guy needs therapy if he hasn't gone already. I don't know if I want to read all what he has to say because I'm sure there was some rewriting of history going on ::)

Yes that would be great!

It would probably depend on who he decided to be that day. :-X
And not trying to be funny but he doesn't have good writing skills. You guys would rip him a new one for that alone...aside from the ninjas.
-
Didn't he say that he routinely received $30,000 for guest posing?
-
Buy it..what the hell it's only 10 bones. I thought it was pretty good.
-
flex was very funny so buy it
that should be the main reason

Do a search on eBay. You can buy the book new for as low as $7.53. ;D

I'm a hardcore Flex Wheeler fan so I bought it regardless but I've heard/read that even his book is TOTALLY untruthful. Has some lies in it as well.
-
i bought it.....its entertainment man..wheather its all true or not..i recommend it as a used book.
-
Just go buy Muscular Development.Since Flex seems to always have to compare himself & his by gone days to the now competing pros in each & every 1 of his contest reports, etc it should be just as entertaining to you as reading the mans bio.MD will cost you less money also :D.
-
If you have a problem with giving flex some money buy it used.
I get the feeling quite a few of you regretted lining his pockets with some change upon completion.
-
Can one of you maybe type the book out here for me? Thanks!

Sure...
I lost my virginity to a hot older chick when I was 12, stunk at football, took up bodybuilding, got attacked by ninja's, took a bunch of diuretics and locked down a few times, never won the Olympia, retired after wasting possibly the best genetics ever because I preferred to binge on McDonalsds instead of sticking to a diet (shhhh, don't tell anybody but I did this as a scapegoat because I'm afriad of failure) and now I'm a kick ass MMA fighter with a bunch of shitty tattoos.
-
he is very critical with himself
-
Dont buy it. I read it in one day back in 2003.
He says he was molested as a child, tried to kill himself, used roids from high school on, became a bouncer, lived off of some women in Venice so he could train full time, became a top pro, talks about the car accident after an orgy, had health problems, he then turned to God, then he lies about being natural at the 2002 Olympia.
No names are really dropped by the way.

Yup. That's the book right there.

What a prick ....
Flex Wheeler --"To Kevin Levrone, I dont knock on doors, I kick them down!"
-
Yup. That's the book right there.
Anyone know how many pages it is?

...I've both bought and read the book. Pretty eye opening. And to the haters, don't form an opinion until you've read it.~ :-*
-
I read it and don't really remember it. I do recommend it though with so few good bodybuilding books out there to choose from. Pumping Iron was probably my favorite bb book.

Like I said earlier. The haters recognise that whether they hate the book or not, they are sending money to flex and that is against their nature.

Good book

Read Bob Paris' Gorilla Suit: My Adventures in Bodybuilding and Muscle: Confessions of a Bodybuilder by Samuel Fussell. Both were excellent and actually written by the authors themselves.
Paris' is told partially in flashback as he contemplates coming out of retirement in 95. He talks about what it was like behind the scenes, about drugs, Munzer, Weider, and about growing up gay in a small town. I'm not big on Brokeback-type stories, but his was very well done.
Fussell was a tall skinny Yale-bound geek who was bitten by the bodybuilding bug, made it his entire life for a couple years, and got out.
Also, if you like biographies actually written by the athletes and not ghostwritten like Wheeler's book (or any Flex article supposedly written by a bodybuilder), check out Mick Foley's two books.
-
I borrowed it from someone, but I would probably pay 10 bucks considering that some muscle mags are approaching 7 bucks...There is a ton of self pity involved with the book, I never felt sorry for him once. I lost some respect with the whole 'afraid to win the Olympia attitude'. Not much gossip or talk of drugs if that's what people are expecting.
-
itīs worth it for laughs cause its ghostwritten by someone else for like 80 percent, and the pics in it are great and of good quality. thats worth it alone. cmon 10 bucks man.

What makes you think they aren't ghostwritten?

Flex should have had something in his book about a secret order of homosexual priests who hold a spell over Joe Wedier and Governor Schwarzenneger. Their goal is to grow a bodybuilder into an international celebrity, then have him work his way into American politics, elected office and then into the White House -- at which time he then takes over the world -- with the secret ......
oh, well. you get it .....
the book was boring. he didnt tell all.
-
yeah, the book is poorly written. It is hard to believe anything that is written in it.
-
whatever happened to getbigger "flexfan" I'm sure he read the book
