Title: lb'age on machines
Post by: texasRUSH on May 29, 2006, 09:04:13 AM
is that a true weight? 60lb curls on a machine feel like 40lb dumbbell curls...

and am i really benching 280 easily on a machine press? or are the pulley's removing alot more than i think they are?  ???

It varies by machine-some are more accurate.

Not really important, all that really matters is relative improvement, increasing the number on whatever form of resistance is used.

If you're using the whole stack, put some DBs on top, pre-exhaust first, or super-set, etc.

yup... whether it's free weight or machine weight, stop looking at the poundages and focus on how it feels.

As far as machines Hammer strength is probably the best. Not the ones with the weight stack, but the plate loaded ones

Hammer Strength is one of many good ones. Each company has particular ones that it's best at.

Almost ALL machines being made today are not using a 1:1 ratio.

The reason for this is they're trying to maximize the versatility of the weight stack.

Almost every manufacture will provide the percent breakdown of each one of their machines

that's news to me... do you have an example?

that's news to me... do you have an example?

Pick-up a phone & contact any manufacture.

They have systems that run 1:1 & others (mostly cable type machines) that don't.

It's not that hard to believe.

Have you ever got on one machine that did the same exact exercise as another manufacture...but for some reason...you can perform the exercise with more or less weight?
