Title: Eddie Abbew - another strength spoofer?
Post by: Scimowser on June 03, 2006, 12:59:44 PM
he is as big as f**k, competes near 280 and has massive arms. But reading through an old Flex he made the following claims:

Bench - 620lbs * 6
Alt Dumbbell Curls - 90lbs * 6
T Bar Rows - 320lbs * 15
Squat - 600lbs * 12
Leg Press - 1200lbs * 30

Now Eddie is one of my favourite pros but with a squat and bench like that he could be a champion powerlifter. You think he's spoofing? I can see him doing the curls but everything else could be slightly exaggerated at the very least IMO.

How strange you mention Eddie, I saw him last weekend at Body limits gym in St Albans in the UK. He's a big f*cker! and his training partner looks just as big!  :o

in reading the a FLEX from a few months back, it had an article about darrem charles.  600 lbs. squats, dips with a 150 db attached to it and front and lateral db raises with 80's and 100's.  SUURRRRRREEEEEE.

What's so hard to believe about these lifts? I can do dips with 150 lb.

I would think his DB curls would be higher if he had lifts like that.  That isn't very impressive.  The lifts are but the curls are weak.

Lateral raises with 100's.

Sure thing. Consider that Strongman competitors uses around 25-30 lbs in the crucifix.

Puts the 100 lbs number in perspective.

Seems like ol' Darrem feels a need to to boost his numbers more than a little.

Major BS.

I doubt even the strongest weightlifters could do real lateral raises with the 100 lbs DB for reps. It would be a whole lotta momentum to get them going IMO.

240 onstage? get a grip, hes 6"2 or so and HUGE with it. 275 is very believable

ain't no way he benches 620 for 6 more like 420 for 6 which is still very impressive with arms that long, the db curls, squat and t bars are very believeable though.

I saw him last week, about a week or so from his last show, he was a lot bigger than 240lbs! he must have been at least 260+

for once we agree on something Will, i think he is at least 275-280, he is a very big dude, he could use more size in the arms though but he reminds me of a little thicker version of Toney Freeman.

Impressive physique, lats look a little narrow in the front bi.  He's been around a while so it's questionable how much he can improve.   Time for him to move up to 30iu HGH per day and 20-30grams of gear per week.  More even, as much gear as he can physically take - if that means 10 grams of test per day then so be it.

No way can he do laterals with 100's.  Most people think I was strong.  when me and the barbarian brothers trained shoulders we trained very very hard.  And we did as much as 75's for 6 and that was m limit at least and probably theres.  Maybe if he did like 1" movement he could do the 100's.  I can't even see Kaz doing 100's in the laterals except maybe 1 or 2 reps

Didn't Johnnie Jackson do laterals with the 100's on War for the worlds with Bob?

i have a thing with jonnie.  every clip i've seen of him lifting, his always strugling with a weight for below what he's done in competitions or claims.

true, he is dieting down, but in his video, he did 315 for 10 and it wasnt an easy 10. deadlifting 500 for a very few hard reps and wearing raps with 405 on the squat.  then a few weeks later, before he got his pro card, he benched like 540, deadlifted 800 and squated 700+ in a competition for WPO.  amazing what bench shirts and squats suits will do for you.

Youd probably be suprised what a lot of them way, Eddie doesnt place highly because he isnt big enough, he needs 20lbs to come in at 265 not 245

Just look up his website and shoot him an email, or if u are a member at Milos site, he is a member there, so shoot him a pm. Im sure he has no problems clarifiying this for ya

Thank you.

I was hoping you would bring some sense into this.

Darrem doing the 80's and 100's..

Shrug-type "laterals", one inch up... Yeah, but what would be the point?

But real lateral raises? No fcuking way.
