Post by: lilwoday09smb on June 08, 2006, 03:35:44 PM
due you guys & girls do cardio on your off days or only incorporate it on your workout days. i can assume when dieting or during contest prep its probably 6 or more days a week. but what about just regular health or off season. just curious

To lose bodyfat, besides the diet I'd try 3 times a week. On training days or not, whichever works.

If you hate cardio (like me and many others I'm sure) try the HIIT or Max OT methods on cardio. High intensity cardio will help to keep metabolism up or even raise it. Consider it is a TOUGH cardio session that will consist of between 16-20 mins of practically non stop high intensity.
You can still do longer duration medium intensity cardio if that's more your style, it just takes longer to do for approxmately the same amount of work.

Lol, don't make the mistake I made when I took the test! I didn't want the "tank" on ny back to move around a lot, so I tightened the belt pretty tight. Since I lift consistently, a "tight" belt in the gym is WAY different than a "tight" belt on your regular pants. Dumbass me tightened the belt like I was going to lift! Needless to say I was "short of breath" through the whole course. Took me awhile to recover and get my air back when I finished the course! :P

That will really help when you have to hoist the "hose pack" up the flights of stairs. Man that wasn't easy! And of course dragging that 180 dummy.

I personally only do cardio once a week!  Im still defined. It depends on the person. I know how my body responds thought to caloric and nutrition  intake.

Funny story. When I took the test I was living in Fremont CA. and was putting in for positions in the SF bay area. I took the exams and passed and then scheduled the physical test and passed. I was waiting for a position, and in two weeks my wife got notification that she was promoted to a higher statis in the company she works at. She was transfered to Washington D.C. before I even got a call. We had all our mail forwarded and 1 month later I got a call. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take the job, but that's life.

that's not too bad, but i bet that you'll find Max OT very challenging... i use a Life Fitness upright bike doing the "Kilamanjaro" hills program for 16 minutes at level 9.... holy shit... my AVERAGE heart rate for the duration today was 167 beats/minute and I covered 6.12 miles of imaginary territory... sometimes i think that i can almost see God...

Don't do cardio on your off days, it just burns you out. Find a workout day, where it would be suitable to do cardio on. Me, I run 20 minutes before my back workout. Works great, but you need your off days.
