Title: ECTOMORPHS
Post by: Kingjarl on June 15, 2006, 02:08:09 PM
I'm an overweight ectomorph. I have way too much fat, only around my waist though (5'11.5" 185lbs). I've also got a good muscle base (275lbs full deadlifts for 10 reps - just to give an idea). Should I still be eating a high amount of carbs if I want to lose weight? Because I've been quite fat before, I put on fat quickly if I neglect my diet and excercise.

Any ideas? Is this enough info?

How old are you? 275lbs for 10 reps gives no indication of your muscle base, just your strength. Take measurements to determine if you have any muscle. Also need a BF% to have an idea of how fat you really are. Hope this helps.

Starting doing 30-35 mins of moderate intensity cardio 2-3 times a week.  That should get your body better at burning fat period.

That's because you've depleted your glycogen levels after working out. The carbs in a post workout drink are just to replace that glycogen so that you do not in turn have "muscle breakdown" to restore lost glycogen levels. Also carbs help in the absorbtion of protein due to insulin spike.
If you're fat, the ONLY way to rid yourself of it, and keep muscle loss to minimum, is to eat clean and manage your calorie input (eating) and output (exercise and cardio).

How can you weigh just 185 at almost 6' and be overweight and have muscle.  You are fine and need to get to at least 200-230.  Lift heavy and eat.

You should buy Aceto's book "Everything You Need To Know About Fat Loss."  His grammar really stinks, but lots of good info about fat loss.

Of course.  Anyone who deadlifts 275 for 10 at a body weight of 185 is pretty strong.  That means his 1 RM is probably around 350 (or something like that).

id say a bench of 275 for 10 is ok at a bodyweight of 185. but deadlift no. im 190 and 19 and can hit 455 on deadlift

High protein from lean sources, fish/turkey/chicken, low carbs, and cardio every day, thank me when you transform your physique. Youll look like a different man. 8)

keep ur protien intake up and carbs down cardio 3-5 times a week plus if u could give a sample diet, ie what u eat on a normal basis, supplements and how many times a day u eat that would be helpful

Drop your carbs,

Eat them only at breakfast, pre workout and post, try to limit them to maybe 100-150

Cardio, first thing in the morning, if you can do 2x a day, even better.

Eat lots of protein!
