Title: How NOT to pose
Post by: gatomjp on July 12, 2006, 01:59:01 PM
This is a link to a clip of an actual competitor at the Philadelphia Championships on June 24th of this year. It's amazing what you will see at the local level of competition.

My question to all of you is this...should this have been allowed? Should there be a minimum requirement for entry into a bodybuilding contest? Like...uhhh, oh I don't know...having muscles or something??

P.S. He took home a trophy because he was the only competitor in his weight class!

Funny yes, but should it have been allowed? Wasn't he wasting everybody's time and don't you think it was an insult to the real bodybuilders who trained for many months or years, in some cases, to get up on that stage?

It all comes down to the promoters, as long as they get that entry fee, they couldn't care less what the competitor looks like..

the guy in the video must have taken advice from Ken Jones...lol
seriously tho i wanted to vomit....then mail my vomit to the guy and have the fed-ex courrier throw it in his face for being such a disgrace...
But then i realized he's not worth the 4.50 in postage fees... ;D

i think the dude in the video has real potential.

with his muscle density, symmetry and shape, he has the aesthetics to do well.

And I'm fairly sure that if he added an extra 1000cals to his diet, he could be a real mass monster.

Coupled with his already impressive conditioning, we may be looking at a future mr O...

Generally NPC promoters will let just about anyone onstage who wants to pay the admissions fee.  & if they're in a class of five or less, they make the evening show.  & on rare occasions, when they're in a class of one person, they're in the final posedown.  I agree, something should be done about it.  But Bev Francis has a nutcase who enters her shows in New York, & has become something of a legend.  He even got a pic in the Page 69 feature in MD this year.  & he thinks he's a "real" BB, on top of everything else.

F@#King Awesome , , I thought you Black dudes were meant to born with rhythm ???????

Seriously tho , what gets me is these guys spend so much time dieting and training you would think they could spend a little time watching a couple of Olympia video,s whilst eating there rice and chicken and getting some posing ideas , and then maybe practising there compulsories , as we know thats where it all counts , in the compulsories and the prejudging , I used lee labrada and rich caspari for my first show inspirations and added a couple of moves of my own for good measure , because as a white dude I HAVE SERIOUS BAD ARSE RYTHEM , unusual i know but i was blessed !!

That was amazing! I love stuff like that. That was even better than the magician who peed on that girl's face and told her it was hot tea.

I used to feel bad for them as well. Not anymore. I just laugh. They know they look like shit, but go up there anways. They deserve to be mocked.

Thats just it though...THEY are the ones who are mocking people. They are making fun of the real bodybuilders. Don't you think Kamali would look even more foolish(if that is even possible) in his robot costume,if he went on stage right after that guy did his act? I do.

He obviously had never once studied what a real bodybuilder does. As the compulsories were called he would watch and wait until the other competitors hit their poses and then try to imitate them...and still get it wrong! You think maybe he should have picked up a bb mag or two to get some pointers before coming on stage??

What other sport allows complete beginners, who have never even taken the time to learn what they are supposed to do, to enter a competition? Would you ever expect to see a gymnastics meet in which someone awkwardly attempts the rings or the balance beam for the first time and makes a fool of themselves in the process? If bb is ever going to achieve any kind of respect in the world of sports, fools like this must not be allowed to make a mockery of it.

If he was truly mentally challenged then maybe we need a "Special Olympics" of bodybuilding for guys like him.

I remember Mike. He was good. His very enthusiastic girlfriend and her freinds were right behind me as I taped the show, screaming his name! They are the loudest thing on the DVD!
