Title: Rows and Pull-ups
Post by: gibberj2 on July 21, 2006, 07:59:24 PM
My barbell row poundage is up but my pullups are down. I even lost weight. What's the deal?

your upper and middle back is getting stronger and your lats aren't keeping up. OR there are about a million other possibilities. Are you trying to lose weight or gain it? Are you getting proper pre and post workout meals, etc. Just because one of your lifts is not as strong can also depend on if it the second lift for that muscle group in the day. If it were the first it might be stronger...

i'm trying to lose fat at this moment. i can still lift as much as when i was fatter. i'm cutting very slowly to not lose muscle (like the last 3 times i tried). what are you saying pull-ups focus on and barbell rows focus on?

if you're doing your barbell rows prior to the pullups, then the answer is obvious.

maybe its because you've been hitting rows harder and more often then your pullups?

yes that is very true. i havent done pull ups in the longest but shouldn't i still be stronger in them since my back got stronger?

You're like my brother, he can make progress on rows like theres no tomorrow but just sucks at pullups for watever reason. Some people have better leverage that can give them an advantage on pullups. I say u do pullups multiple times a week, stopping short of failure. Like some people described in ther other thread, this method worked for them trememndously.

well i get really sore. every time i work out any bodypart i get sore for at least 3 days. that's why i've never been one to train a bodypart for more than 1 time in like 6 or 7 days. well i did when i first started working out but got no results.... i didn't know about protein then either  :(
