Title: I'm not one to start useless posts but...
Post by: MassInMass on August 01, 2006, 11:26:37 AM
I'm curious...I have been lifting for years, and have NEVER had the need to use  35LB plates...Are they useless or is it just me?

if you're trying to be progressively stronger you need a number of different plates since otherwise the jump would be too big

Why not just throw a 10 on top of a 25? It's easier than removing a 25 then adding a 35...

I thought all plates were 10? you just pit the pin in, right? Unless you are at home and then you measure in terms of rubber bands ;D

I have never ever seen a 100 lbs plate here in quebec, and I visited a lot of gym

maybe they are some in the powerlifting area at the progym, never entered that room cause I think it is only for the weightlifters doing clean and jerks and shit like that

yeah maybe that is true there is a lot of women who does strenght training

there is a girl here at brossard, don't remember her name but she is small and really really strong

some people say that she will be better than Maryse Turcotte, that's pretty amasing cause she is an incredible athlete !

I respect women who train heavy and hard cause usually, women don't train hard at all cause they say they aren't as strong as the men of they don't want to become too muscular  ::)

Amen!!!   10 or so should be left on the leg press and 4 or 5 on a flat bench....sucks loading plates.

Alexxx and i shall start a gym.

One half for men, and the other half for women and sarcasms crew.   The weights will be pink on the machines ,all the way to 10lbs.

Yes!!    The first sets will be for 20 reps or so.   I always say: "Anything over 10 reps is called CARDIO"  ;D

Hey idiot if your dumbells start at 100 pounds and the weight jumps in incraments of 20, you wont have a 350 pound dumbell. Alexxx you really are a douche ::)

Weight lifting for seniors is good for bone density.

Just because you are elderly doesn't mean you shouldn't be in a weight room.
Learning your way around the weight room is a whole other story.

Apollon Gym has 100lbs plates.  I use the thirty fives when I am warming up before I get to the dinner plates, Although I don't go heavy like I did when I was younger.
