It was a toss-up between Heath Ledger and Robin Williams to get the role of The Joker. You can say the joke's on Heath Ledger.

You don't get it. It's too late - Heath Ledger has already been signed as The Joker.

Especially since Robin Williams is in rehab for alcoholism now. That would slow down filming.
