Title: Who says Midgets aren't strong
Post by: HUGEPECS on August 14, 2006, 08:24:39 AM
I believe this guy's name is Andrzej Stanaszek. He put some impressive numbers on all three lifts, for a midget.  :o :o. I believe most people underestimated him until they see what he can do.

If that's true then pound for pound he would be one of if not the strongest squatters on Earth.

Is that Preist?  ;D

LOL, didn't see that one coming.

And the worst part is people on this board will have a field day making fun of this poor unfortunate fellow because of his height. Its certainly not his fault that he was born like that. He is just playing the hand he was dealt.

True.  You didn't have to say that though, I would have rather just got a good laugh in.  Midgets are funny, sorry.

i think ish like that is great.  in all seriousness, do you think a lift like that is made a little easier because of the shortened distance, sort of like guys with really long arms have difficulty benching really heavy due to the distance?

If you scale something down, it becomes stronger and stronger pound for pound. It's called the square-cube law in physics. It's the reason ants and other insects are so strong, but would collapse under their own body weight if they were our size. Galileo first pointed this phenomenon out 400 years ago...

Exactly.

And if my range of motion on the squat were 1.5 inches, I could probably squat three cars.  Well, maybe only two.

I dont care how short the range of motion is, he got a shitload of strenght to even stand still under those weights

Doesn't matter, he already has no range of motion, and on top of that he's doing a 1/4 squat in that picture.  Ass to floor or bust!

an interesting story is that stanaszek was just one of the many midgets who did not "fit in" until he was spotted at a train station by some powerlifting coach.  the coach saw his potential right away, jumped the platform, missed his train, and proposed stanaszek that he would train him.  the rest is history....
