Title: photo shoots at gold's venice
Post by: willie mosconi on August 27, 2006, 03:12:12 PM
i'm starting to get annoyed

every weekend it seems they have some no-name bb with a photo shoot. it disrupts the gym. you cant use certain equipment and you have to deal with all the photo equipment and lights everywhere  ::)

also, i get tired of seeing these vain, fake tanned motherfuckers with nothing but tiny butt shorts on.

that's my take on it

If you where a man you would not use machines in the first place. Second if you where a man you would go use the machines regardless.

You may use cables after you build a very very good base!

Well, look at it this way.... at least you get to train in The Mecca - Gold's Gym/Venice.  >:(

Walk by trip over the light stands. After a few times of this the photographer won't be back.

David and Peter would spit a few times by the photographer and that would be the end of it.

Did you just start training yesterday?  Anyone...even across the country knows that Venice Golds is a CIRCUS.....You don't go there to seriously train UNLESS you go on OFF hours...mid day or late at night.  This has been the NORM at Golds, Venice since it's inception.  If it bothers you so much go to another gym...simple.  And if guys in small shorts bothers you so much what are you doing hanging out in Venice?

I could never train at Venice.

Does not look like a gym conducive at all to hardcore training.

You think that's bad?  Last time I went to work out at Gold's Venice, there were two huge pro bodybuilders viciously making out in the locker room.  Here's a visual.  I walk in to get dressed into my typical gym attire and right as I’m making my way across the locker room, I see two huge pro bodybuilders, that were/are common names in our sport, in what appeared to be a typical rough-housing session where both men were slamming each other from locker to locker and just moaning in the process.  Little did I know that what was really going on was that both of these hardcore lifters where really just having an all-goes make out session.  I swear this was one of the most thrilling yet scariest things I have ever seen.  Afterwards, I figured that Gold's Venice was not fit for me to see to my bodybuilding needs and I solely visited with lubricant on hand to let off a few rounds of man yogurt.

LMAO, you noticed that too eh? I always got disappointed when i was younger seeing pics of the Mecca. As a 15 year old I thought it was this hardcore dungeon where all the big goons went. Now all I see is fairies and people hanging out. I think half the guys there train at World or Powerhouse, but just show up at Gold's to do eat their take out meals and sit around chatting.

how much is the average monthly fees there?

for me it is, $40/mo

some people have cheaper or more expensive rates depending on the deal you get

I've considered going to other gyms, but I really like the equipment (when it is available!) and I haven't tried the other local gyms. Might give World Gym on Washington a try

I like the Gold's in redondo, but it is too far from where i live

Shyt, I'd probably look for another gym too. This mecca dont give regular members a chance to get their swolled on, with so many shyt going on there.

that's not entirely true

you can get a good workout

you just have to be pushy and be prepared to deal with the chaos without getting angry at the crazy mo fos

When I went [2 years ago] I bumped into Chris Cormier - that was it.
But I'll be going again here very soon. Can't wait!  ;D

SInce the new ownership the entire Gold's Gym chain has been going downhill.  Really sad after what Pete and partners did to get it so good. I mean they even moved most of the corporate offices to Texas. They ruined a great thing.

Yeah, LA can be a difficult place to live in

However, remember Intenseone is from the OC

Most people from the OC have quite the disdain for LA

Why do you say that?
'Cause of the cost of living?

'Cause of the cost of living?

yes, cost of living is completely unreasonable

it is beyond ridiculous. hopefully that will improve as it seems real estate is coming back down to earth somewhat

also, it is overcrowded. the traffic can almost drive you crazy, which means you better live close to your job- but the housing expenses nearly make that prohibitive unless you make a lot of $

also, there is a lot ugliness- the homeless (I'm sympathetic to large extent, but it is disheartening to see them all the time) and pollution.

about two months back, i saw a homeless guy taking a shit in broad daylight near the intersection of Lincoln and Venice. WTF?!?!

Willie, is living in Los Angeles so bad that you regret it? I ask 'cause I would love to live there.

overall, no, but just be prepared

i enjoy the weather and all the things that you can do here

however, don't be naive if you move here. know that it is not all sunshine and glitter

having said that,i'm pondering  moving out of here within the next 5-10 yrs because of all the reasons i listed above, mainly the cost of living though and the fact that there are a lot of fake, trendy people here
