Could somebody please work on a wikipedia entry for this disorder. I see it referenced when you look up Greg Kovacs.
-
I was just thinking the same thing. Make it very scientific. Mention possible insulin resistance causing small arms and legs, and internal organ growth, both attributed to GH abuse. Have pictures of kovacs, pulumbo and kamali plotting the different stages of progression of this debilitating disease. Also show a non GH using bber from the 60 or 70 such as sergio olivia as comparison.
Are there any wikipaedia nerds here that can do this?

"Kovacs was raised in Fonthill, Ontario, Canada and still resides there to this day with his wife Kim. He studied electrical engineering for one year at college before concentrating on his bodybuilding pursuits.
Although Kovacs has had mixed results in his competitive career (see below) he is notable as being one of the only professional bodybuilders weighing over 400 lb (180 kg).
Kovacs has been thought to exhibit early stages of "Palumboism", a commonly used term in the bodybuilding community to describe an individual who sees consistent declines in their competition placings.[1] Individuals suffering from Palumboism often have distended waistlines, decreased arm and quadricep mass, and an increasingly unaesthetic physique compared to earlier in their career."

Medical Definition for Palumboism.
Palumboism. (Pa-lum-bo-is-m): A metabolic disorder characterized by progressive atrophy of the extremities and hypertrophy of the pelvic girdle, internal organs, cranium and jaw. This disorder, to date only described in males, results from massive abuse of human growth hormone, synthetic insulin, anabolic steroids and extreme overeating. A grading system has been proposed, with 3 clinical stages. In Stage III, the end stage, the patient is profoundly obese, waist girth has been measured at over 40 inches, the extremities are very cachectic and the cranium and facial bones are distorted.
An interesting subtype of this disorder, has been described in one patient. The affected patient, in addition to having stage 3 palumboism, also suffered from several psychiatric co-morbidities, included Narcisistic Personality Disorder and Acute Psychosis with Delusions of Grandeur. See Kamalism.

No obsity, instead a rather low bodyfat composition. Obese individuals don't have striated muscle. No extreme overeating either. The large 50" waist is due to swollen organs, thus part of the medical condition.

LOL! Who actually created the term "palumboism"? It really stuck! Kovacsism doesn't suit. Palumboism is the real deal!

Tamali was obese at his last contest, easily 15%...he had zero striations.

The point is, the condition seems to exist with a decent amount of cuts and vascularity. In fact, more vascularity than necessary. It's the distension of the abdomen, a change in the abdominal wall, perhaps due to constant pressure of the organs (?), etc. There are recognized experts on this site. I'll defer to them.
