Every time a contest comes around you always hear about a BB talking about loading, missing his peak, spilling over whatever. Does anyon exactly know from word of mouth or personal experience what these guys are eating. Im not saying just food but there schedule when do they start and how often, even cardio schedule. Are there any other methods they use ( other than drugs, lasix). I remeber reading about one BB using a blow dryer to get the subq water out. Im just curious because everytime a pro talks about training, diet, others there always so general....some real details would be nice.

A lot of guys are using Vitargo (waxy maize) to carb up with great success. As for using a blow dryer, that would heat up the skin and cause oedema (water retention) much the same as using a sauna pre-contest - a myth that just doesnt work to rid the body of excess water.

Dont eat anything but Apples for 5 days...got Momo super ripped !!!

Well, this would be the perfect book for you - The Precontest Bible by Larry Pepe. I won this book during one of Shawn's All-Star Seminar and it is truly worth owning. :)

The book isnt that good...it really isnt. It's first a big advertisment for 'Spray Flex' and also...its give the 'tips/tricks' from various pro BB's. The same pro BB's who also carb load with 8-19iu's of humulin with every carb meal and 6-8iu's of gh every morning and bedtime so I suggest if you look at 'The PreContest Bible'...take it with a grain of salt because like FLEX magazine...it just isnt practical with practice among 'real people'.

the last week before a contest is critical...i have seen many guys look good a few weeks out but come prejudging they are flat as a pancake or spilled over.
there are many things that can go wrong...the most common mistakes i see are usually cutting water too early, cutting sodium too early, not timing the carb up properly, misusing diuretics.
i have played around with a few different methods and i think its best to take care of the water issue before the carb up...if you dry out as much as possible before the carb up you may not even need to take a last minute diuretic...or just a very mild one...i think some guys are just so focused on drying out that they forget that loop diuretics like lasix not only pull out the sub q water but also water from muscles and organs...they end up flat and cramping on stage.
heres a good article...it goes into the science of the carb up...sodium loading, electrolyte balance, water intake, type and length of carb up, ect.
