Roger Federer is easliy. He has won 8 grandslams (will be 9 tomorrow). He has done this since 2003. And since 2001 he has won 40 singles titles. That's 3 years for Grand Slams and 5 for singles titles.
Pete Sampras the current "best ever" won 14 Majors and won 64 singles titles winning his first Grandslam in 1990. So it took him 13 years.
Tiger Woods has been on the tour for 10 years and has won 53 PGA tour titles and 12 Grand Slams
Jack Nichlaus won 18 Majors over a 41 year span.
Roger is winning twice what Tiger is but tennis is not nearly as popular as golf.
Roger wins easily.

The Motocross legend Stefan Everts is probably the most dominant sports star right now.
If motorsports are ruled out, Jeremy Wariner (400 m) is a front runner, totally dominant.

YOu have to take the sport into consideration.
I say Ronnie COleman.
Just think, what can go wrong every year, lose interest and your diet takes a dive, or training....Ir how about injuries?
Pro bodybuilding is by far, the TOUGHEST to dominate, like ROnnie has for what, 8 years? Just think about it..INSANE....

Golf is a harder sport to dominate so I say Tiger hands down. Its a lot harder to win a golf tournament than a tennis tournament. To win the US Open in golf you have to beat like 153 other guys. In tennis you don't have to beat so many other competitors. Tennis is an easier sport to dominate than golf. In tennis the competition falls way off after a few top guys. In the golf world the overall level of competition blows tennis away.

True Adonis is the most dominant athlete. He eats ice cream, drinks 24 cans of diet soda per day, and has posted 50 pictures of himself in a tanktop. You simply can't argue with success.

Tiger is easily the most dominant with Federer a close second. In golf, you are playing everybody. All 125 or so guys who start on Thursday are on an even plane. However, even in Grand Slam tennis events, you have to win seven matches to get the title. Difficult no doubt, but usually the top seeds don't even get decent competition until the fourth round. Also, consider that Federer has arrived in a time where there is not a true rival. Nadal on clay, but that is all. Agassi, at 35 years of age, almost beat him at age 24 in the US Open finals last year. Agassi at 36 and with a gimp back beat the 8th ranked player in the world this year at the Open (Baghdatis). Do you really believe that if Federer played in the time of Agassi, Sampras, Becker, Courier, Edberg and the like he would have been as dominant...the answer is no. He still may have been the best; this is debateable, though. Tiger would have dominated any era. That is clear. Wariner, the sprinter, is the MJ of track and field; he is amazing. I would have loved to have seen him race against Michael Johnson.

You "golf experts" that keep babbling about Woods probably don't even realize how dominant Annika has been since 2000. Of course most of you didn't know golf existed until Tiger and Nike told you. hahaha turds.

Funny thing is I was into golf and playing with my dad before Tiger came along. I was like in elementary school and hated when people thought I liked Tiger and that's why I got into it but truth is my dad always played and watched it on t.v. and that's why I got into it.

Ok, Tiger has won five straight tournaments including two majors. Annika has won one this whole year. Tiger has 12 mojors; she has 10. Annika is also older. You do the math ShowStoppa. Tiger is better. Now Federer, in two years this may be a moot discussion once he wins the Grand Slam.

You have one bad day out of four in golf and you can still win the tournament or place high, but have a bad day on the tennis court and you go home. There's no defense in golf either.

who here besides me gets really annoyed when golfers, race car drivers, etc., refer to themselves as athletes? You've got to be fuckin kidding me! What's next, ping pong? If the game requires an athlete to play it, then it becomes a sport- otherwise, its just a game! Absolutely ridiculous-
-
they may not be athletes but those are sports. what is the definition of sport? hunting is a sport, golf is a sport, pool is a sport, chess is a sport, racing is a sport.
-
i would say tennis is much more harder to dominate in, i.e more taxing on body, playing surfaces differ and people speiclise onc ertain surfaces so i would say federer and also he is a relative newcomer to the sport and is winning more, and breaking records faster than most in otehr sports.
Anotehr athlete (if you class it as sports) is Sebastian Loeb in Rally Races. He has won 27 races in four years, it took previous holder Carlos Sainz 14 years to get 26 wins. Loeb has won the most races in one season, has has the most succesise wins in a row, won a single event (the german rally) 4 years in row which has never been done before. He has got at least another 8 years left in him so he may become the best rally driver of all time.
Also Micheal Schumacer was dominant in Formula one for about 5 years, he was so domiant that they changed the rule to make it hard for him and Ferrai to win.

Barry sanders and bo jackson, jim thorpe, jackie robinson

No,, Wayne Gretzky is the most dominate athlete of all time, it isn't even close. If you look at hockey records and stats, you willl see what I mean. Not even Tiger is remotely close....
-
most dominant athletes all time:
Tiger Woods - Golf
Wayne Gretzky - Hockey
Michael Jordan/Wilt Chamberlin - Basketball
Roger Federer - Tennis
Arnold Schwarzenegger - Bodybuilding
Mariusz Pudananowski - Strongman
Babe Ruth - Baseball
Muhammad Ali - Boxing
I didn't put Pete or Andre because that wouldn't fit in dominance, because they were always in competition together, Federer is just dominant over everybody. You could put up a debate for Shaq because for 10 years he was the most 'DOMINANT' player.

Anyone who puts Roger Federer or Tiger Woods as the most dominant athlete must be smoking crack.
Why?
Because neither of these two athletes are winning everything.
Federer, for all his superiority, loses to Nadal on clay, and Tiger Woods doesn't win every tournament.
Jeremy Wariner wins every race he runs. And he wins it by a huge distance. As is the case with Stefan Everts, who only loses if his bike breaks down.
Another extremely dominant athlete, who could make a case for most dominant, is pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva.

Ok Zack, who the hell are those guys? What sports do they dominate?
Jeremy Wariner is an US track and field athlete, the 400 meters. Has potential to break Michael Johnson's world record. Doesn't seem to have reached his full potential yet.
Stefan Everts competes in motocross bike. He's a Belgian who's been dominating that sport for more than a decade, winning everything, and making the sport totally boring with his dominance, everyone is so far behind.
He is retiring this year.
Everts doesn't get as much recognition, since his sport is quite small, most people in Sweden wouldn't know who Everts is, so don't feel bad about that.
More people would know who Wariner is though. Pretty respected after his accomplishments, although I suspect he still is in the shadow of his mentor and agent, Michael Johnson (yes, that Michael Johnson). I predict he'll slaughter the 400 meter record next year at the T&F World Championships.

lamest post ever... Federer has been number one for over 200 weeks, and has one 9 grand slams and is only 25. Tiger Woods is on course to winning the most majors in history and at age 30 has 53 wins I believe. Both of their win percentages are the highest in history which = dominance.
how lame of a post..

Wariner's winning percentage is 100 % for the this year.
Federer and Tiger? No.
Both have lost.
Wariner is in a league of his own. He may compete in a sport that doesn't get recognition, but he is dominant.
Obviously beyond comprehension.
I watched Roger Federer play tonight, and there is no doubt in my mind that he's the greatest tennis player ever.
But he is not the most dominant athlete in the world. Not even close.
A lot of guys are out there who are more dominant.
Kenenisa Bekele is another example.

everytime I saw beach volleyball on TV and happened to turn it on it was these two winning easily in the finals and that had to be at least six times this year. I consider that pretty dominant.

Barry sanders and bo jackson, jim thorpe, jackie robinson
The question was who is most dominant RIGHT NOW!
-
Michael Phelps or David Ortiz (best clutch player).
Again, Tiger Woods, he actually performs better under pressure, the only other one that I can think of that can do that is Michael Jordan (IMO Jordan and Lance Armstrong are the most dominant of all time)!

if you don't even break a sweat from the physical activity required to perform the game, then it's not a sport- sport is not just any competition- a sport requires an athlete to play it- if the "game" requires an athlete to play it, then the "game" becomes a sport-a fat, drunk slob can dominate golf, hunting, pool, chess, and racing (if their fat ass can fit in a car)- for christ sake, you don't even have to run in any of these games or events, let alone sprint, throw, or posess any athletic agility- chess is a sport???are u ignorant or just plain stupid?

They are sports. Just not athletic sports. If you don't understand that then look up the word sport in the dictionary. I think you're roiding too much. relax.

didn't someone say George Bush?
-
no it's not a sport because you don't win anything.

no it's not a sport because you don't win anything.
I would disagree with cheerleading not being a sport. At the high school level the cheerleaders train just as hard as the basketball and football players and they do have cheerleading competitions.
-
no it's not a sport because you don't win anything.
Don't you get ESPN? They have cheerleading competitions all the time.
-
so there you go! It IS a sport!

it's a sport. chess is a sport, pool is a sport. in cheerleading you compete for a prize and it's athletic. it's an athletic sport! haha

obviously, only me and cap86 grew up playing SPORTS-baseball,football,basketball,track/field,soccer,hockey,....you people are fuckin morons

George W. Bush was f*ckin' cheerleader??? WTF?? :'( :o ??? :-\ :-X :(
-
Tiger Woods! ;D
-
A sport doesn't have to be physical. An ATHLETIC sport does. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD. By the way chess is physical. How tired were you after taking a 4 or 5 hour exam in high school or college or whatever? Well playing competitive chess is like that and you may even have to have 2 of those in a day. Focusing your mind for hours and hours and basically reading the other person's mind by their moves and trying to impose your will on them over the board is strenuous as can be.
-
blaaah blaaah blaah..the fight has yet to take place between sliva and cro crop
-
Again, Tiger Woods, he actually performs better under pressure, the only other one that I can think of that can do that is Michael Jordan (IMO Jordan and Lance Armstrong are the most dominant of all time)!
Both Jordan and Armstrong were dominant.
But Jordan lost several games, the Bulls didn't win every single game they played when he was playing. Jordan, for all his greatness, had nights when his game would "just" be on par with the best of the league.
Armstrong only competed in one event per year, which makes it hard to call him the MOST dominant, he never won the UCI Pro Tour title, never won the World Championships, or one of the two other major tours, Vuelta de Espaņa or Giro d' Italia.
Armstrong makes a great case for being one of the greatest cyclists in the history of the sport, on par with Miguel Indurain, but not on the same level as Eddy Merckxx.
A guy like Kenenisa Bekele (5000 and 10 000), or Jeremy Wariner(400), they just don't lose.
A couple of years ago, Haile Gebreselassie were just as dominant in the 5000 and 10 000.
Stefan Everts is highly underrated in just about every country except Belgium. But anyone who calls Schumacher dominant needs to check out Everts record.
Everts may just be the most dominant figure in motorsport ever.
Hossein Rezazadeh is putting on quite the dominance in Weightlifting right now too, guy doesn't lose.

Both are good examples. Golf, Race Car Driving, Tennis...these are all elitist sports. Being the best in the world at any of them means being the best in the world among those who were not born poor. In reality, you're the best in the world of the 10 percent of the gloabal population who has the resources to play. But being the fastest in the world...you don't need money to find out you have speed. Anyone here ever race an F1 car to see if they had the stuff? Likewise, how many Africans/South Americans do you think have ever golfed or played tennis?

Valentino Rossi wins without having the best machinery
There have been some superb bike riders recently....
Dougie Lampkin in Motorcycle Trials winning every world championship from 1997-2003
Matt Mladin in AMA superbikes winning from 1999-2005
Valentino Rossi winning the MotoGP championship in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005....despite switching to the piece of shit Yamaha at the end of 2003 and still whooping the best in the world for two more years....incredible.
Ricky Carmichael in AMA motorcross/supercross
Stefan Everts in World Motocross....10 world championships!
(its a shame Carmichael and Everts never went head to head for a few years)

the most dominant person in any sport right now has to be Roger Federer, he is there or there abouts in every tournament he plays and is so far ahead of the field he could take a year out and probably return still ranked top 5. There is no arguing the fact he is the best tennis player of any generation, and ther is no controversy with his dominance - he just kicks everyones arse

the most dominant athlete of all time is without a doubt, SHW wrestler Alexander Karelin.

Aleksander Karelin would be the obvious choice if you look at all-time dominance.
Even when he finally lost, to that fat fcuker Rulon Gardner, it wasn't a real loss, it was due to Gardner avoiding getting scored on during the regular time, and then Gardner holding the lockup the longest (the wrestlers were put chest to chest with their hands locked behind their opponents back, the guy who lost the grip first lost the match).
In a sport were rolls and lockups were most common, the Greco-Roman SHW, Karelin would introduce lifts and reverse flips. He simply toyed with opponents that weighed 300 lbs, doing stuff that you previously only had seen in light weightclasses.
Jim Thorpe was great, but we were never able to see how great he could've been since he was banned for life, and he never dominated his other sports in a way that Karelin has dominated wrestling.
The only guys who are even remotedly close to Karelin, and even that is questionable IMO, are Edwin Moses and Stefan Everts.
Jangshir and Jahangir Khan were both number one too short time, even though their dominance can't be questioned. Jahangir dominating the 80's, and winning the British Open seven or eight times.
