early to mid 2008.... About 50 grand with a v8. Along with the new evo x, nissan 450 z.... v10 lexus and the new skyline this promises to be an awesome model year!
-
That isn't a Supra. Its just another new Toyota with the Supra badge slapped on. Just like Nissan with the 350 ZX and Mazda with the RX8.
-
Thats fine with me. That new supra is going to be mean! I should get the gtr!!!
-
The engine block on those old Supras are amazingly strong. I've seen people turbocharge them to hell. It's not rare to see a Supra with 900 or 1000 RWHP driving around. Those things were beasts.
Saw a video once of a Lexus IS 250 that some guy stuffed with a 850 RWHP Supra engine. The thing was the ultimate sleeper. The video I saw he drove up to a Viper on the highway and asked if the dude wanted to race. The guy in the Viper was so offended to be asked to race by a Lexus IS 250 that he floored it as if to show the dude in the Lexus what he was dealing with. Of course this is just what the Lexus driver wanted. He downshifts and hits hyperdrive. He went by the Viper as if it were literally standing still. The look on the Viper drivers face was priceless as he realized that he'd just been destroyed by some dude in a Lexus IS 250.
In the street racing world those Supras were not to be messed with.
I can't wait to see what Nissan does with the New Z. I'm assuming their going to modify the 4.5 liter V8 they currently use, hopefully it will be pushing at least 400 hp. The new Supra is going to be interesting too. You're right body, going to be a great year for cars.

Those cars are great but I say you can't beat American made steel.

To me, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota ruined the RX7, the 240Z and the Supra. They turned them from light, agile and affordable sports cars into big, heavy, expensive, sport/luxury cars.

I think I'll distrupt this Ricer clusterfuck with some real cars.

Haha look at all those cars. Slow as dirt on a track. Handle like shit.

Real performance cars go fast on a track. There is 2 good american supercars ( that are not heavily modified). The gt40 which is amazing... Also the new zo6. American cars are shitboxes. This thread is also a dedicatin to the euro cars. Real cars. Fast all around. Not just in a stright line.
By the way. There is no American car under 80 grand that can match a evo fq off the showroom floor. The evo is about 40 grand. Spanks lambos on the track. Haha nothing short of a 100,000 plus gt40 can touch it. The American auto makers need to get on the stick. Unless you want to look cool american "muscle" cars are good for nothing.
-
I would kill for this car... Oh you WILL be mine.... :P

I think it's our freeways . . . European cars are built to work on twisting roads so they handle much better than our boats that are good for freeway driving.
-
Dont get me wrong. I can appreciate a cool foose car. Or a bad ass old mustang with 50000000 horses. I just think a car should perform all around. I think it is sad a 40,000 400 horse 2 liter jap car can smoke anything american under 100 grand. I would buy an american one if they didnt all suck.

Sorry Rice... There is no anti-venom for this bite. You'll have to remain, CLASSLESS, UGLY and BITEN by American Muscle.

Did you see what I wrote? Any non HEAVILY MODIFIED American car.You can make vipers and vets mean with modification. Why dont they just make them handle good from the factory? That viper cost 80k and prob has another 20 in it.... 100 grand. not to mention vipers handle like absolute shit. Have you ever raced in one?
Ps I could put about 100 euro or jap cars that could anhalite that thing on a track with half the mods that car has.
Fast in a stright line and a bad ass ride no doubt. but just cant hack it on a track.
Thisss is a bad ass american car. This is one of the greatest cars ever actually. The gt and ferrari f40 the f1 the new 360 and the zonda are the greatest supercars off our eras.
-

have you driven the 911 Turbo, body88? that's engineering.
-

Yes I have. The girls father I was dating in college had one. Like it was on rails. I have also had the provledge to drive a gollardo and mercialago. I swear to god a stock evo mr with about 5 k in it is the fastest thing on a track short of 100 grand. Crazy to think a 35k car with 2 liters is fast than a stick viper by far! On a track of course.
-
hahaha . . . any real driver would take a 911 over that any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
You're an idiot... Unless you're going with the with a 911 turbo, which is I admit is sweet but I think quite a bit more expensive ??? The 911 is not a match for the viper. ::) only the turbo.

Body, sorry man... I don't care what you wrote ;D

B you are correct. No 911 is a match for a viper off the line. Unless it is the awd turbo. Even then it wont win the drag. On the track however it is faster. I do like the viper they are alot of fun to drive. Crazy ride in that thing. Wheel spin the whole nine. Just wish they would make the americans handle :(
I will give you the new zo6 vette however. That thing is a monster on the track.
-

Haha alrighty then!

I'm going to have to test drive one of those evos . . . I drove a 2006 911 Turbo that belongs to someone at work (after I kicked his ass playing golf, he wanted to be my buddy) . . . thing is a dream. It had the tiptronic transmission that I don't normally like, but on this car it was perfect . . .
-
stock 911 turbo will beat a stock dodge viper even in a drag race. transmission is much better.
-

If you are bored one day get one on the road. You cannot get the fq in america. They are insanley fast. Check out this one tear up a gollardo on top gear. keep in mind this car is 40 grand. You can get the 300 horse mr in America.2008 prmoises an all new one with even more power. Then later the 400 horse version will hit our shores. The current mr pulls o - 60 in 4.3 . Drop about 2 grand on a buscher stage 2 package and you can make close to 400 ponies for 38 grand. Would kill that 911 on a track... No joke.
-
stock 911 turbo will beat a stock dodge viper even in a drag race. transmission is much better.
It may. I think it would depend on the driver. The rt10 is a monster off the line! Cant handle for a damn tho!
-
hahaha . . . any real driver would take a 911 over that any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Algebra, a ZO6 vette handles just about as well as any car in the world.
-
Haha look at all those cars. Slow as dirt on a track. Handle like shit.
Those rice burners are sterile. No personality. They won't be worth shit in the years to come. The old muscle cars appreciate in value every day.
-
Algebra, a ZO6 vette handles just about as well as any car in the world.
I've driven that vette, and while it is a substantial improvement over the older vettes, it still can't beat a lot of European (and Japanese?) cars when it comes to handling . . . but, for its sticker price, I'll say it's probably the best buy when it comes to sportscars. decent handling, very good power, reasonable price . . . if you didn't inherit wealth, it's the way to go.
-
Those rice burners are sterile. No personality. They won't be worth shit in the years to come. The old muscle cars appreciate in value every day.
Well I'll be goddamned... We better stop agreeing like this ;)
-
japanese 'ricer' cars >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>american 'muscle' cars
they are better at handling, gas mileage, everyday practicality, often straight line speed, reliability, durability, and longevity. and you typically get all the performance for half the price. have fun with your mustang hahahaha
-
Algebra, a ZO6 vette handles just about as well as any car in the world.
The zo6 and the gt are the only two. The gt is eons above the vette. but the zo6 can hang with alot of the euros.
-

You are correct. But I stated numorous times that I was talking about performance. For a soul and to look cool cruising nothing can compete with alot of the old muscle cars. My fav being the cobra.
As for a soul in jap cars. You are right alot lack soul. but strap yourself into an evo mr. You may be surposed the soul it has. same with the old z's and supras. Nsx also.
And as for the euros. Cant get much more soul and personality than those cars have.
I just cant get over the kids who buy mustang gts and think they are fast. Slow and clumsy as all hell. Waste of money if you ask me 8)
-
fun with your mustang hahahaha
I will and do ;D
-
I will and do ;D
Thats all that matters!

I think i was one of those people.
The day you can buy a supra at a dealership I will test drive one as my punishment :P
-

If that thing has a v8 in it I will buy one. The titan has a great v8 in it. The new supra should be one hell of a ride.
-
my 2001 mustang gt has out ran many porshes, lambos and Ferrari's and countless supras and evos on scca road tracks but it is very verrryyy far from stock.i probably have 6-8 thousand dollars invested in just suspension and another $15000 invested in the engine transmission and rear axle and i drive it every day
-

Friend of mine races her Porsche. She's a total thrill-seeker. Races Ducati bikes too.

They will never be collectible cars. Japanese cars just don't have and never will have the mystique American muscle cars have.
-

The Titan is probably a real good truck but is ugly as hell. I think Toyota full size trucks are ugly too.

The zo6 and the gt are the only two. The gt is eons above the vette. but the zo6 can hang with alot of the euros.
I don't know if you're referring to the cool factor or the appearance of the GT but if you're referring to performance the GT isn't eons ahead of the Z06. In fact they're very close in performance. The performance difference between the two is slight and after you factor in the cost then any slight advantage the GT had in performance disappears. The Z06 is a supercar performer for under $70,000, it's a performance bargain of the highest order.
Here's a quote from Car & Driver when the compared the Z06 to a Ferrari F430 and Porsche 911 Turbo.
"On paper, the Z06 Corvette is the best car here. It accelerates as quickly as the 911 Turbo through the quarter and wastes both the Porsche and Ferrari at speeds above 120 mph. How about 0 to 150 mph in 17.7 seconds? That’s up there in Ford GT territory, if not as stupid fast as a McLaren F1. The Z06 has the most grip at 1.01 g and the best braking performance. On an autobahn, it was still accelerating while the Ferrari was topped out in sixth gear at 186 mph. Around our road course, it was an easy victor, 1.7 seconds quicker than the Porsche on a near-76-second lap. It does all this for about a third of the Ferrari’s price. The Z06 is the best performance value in the world, period."
Here's another quote from a Car & Driver Z06 test "That's on par with or better than the performance of the $153,345 Ford GT (and good luck getting that price) and $180,785 Ferrari F430."
-

I don't know why people don't give the Z06 vette the credit it deserves. it is a world class car in its performence. It sticks to the road like glue, has an AWESOME powerplant and is cheap.

I agree, I don't quite understand it either. My best guess is that it's the snob factor. People have a hard time believing a Chevrolet can outperform their European supercar or their car that costs 2 1/2 times as much as a Z06. There are only a handful of cars on the planet that can show the Z06 their taillights and those cars cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Z06 is one badass ride.

Some people just write it off because its American without being objective.

Great thread. My daily driver is a 480 RWHP 03 mustang cobra but I appreciate those Supras. I had access to one for a few months when my buddy moved out of state and left it at my house. Stock internal, stock rear end, and consistently dynoed 500-600 to the wheels. Looked and drove completely stock. It was a sweet ride. I'm a hardcore mustang guy for life but I keep hearing this voice in my head that tells me to buy a Supra to add to my collection of Ponies.

I disagree with the Evo being better that any car under 40k the sti will kill it everyday. I have friends that have both(06 evo9 and an 06 sti) and stock v. stock the STI kills it and on a curvey rd it is no comparasion. Another friend of mine has a s2000 it is supercharged and will beat both of them. He has recently sent the motor to laskey racing and is expecting to get 600 crank hp(about 470-500 rwhp) it should beat alot of cars around here and probally alot anywhere it weighs about 2800lbs (I think) with tha power to weight it will be badass so you can keep your evo. Personally I am a guy that likes amercian muscle. If it aint got a v8 that shit aint fast. I dont care how much hp you have I like the torque of a v8 big block or a big small block. You can have the turbo I will take a big block with alot of n02 and go in a straight line real fast all day long. The ricers may do better around the track but going 4-8secs in a 1/4 would be the greatest thing ever IMO

A stock evo mr vs an sti on a track is no comparision. Your friend must not know how to drive. The sti has severe grip issues with the rear end since they added the additional horses taking it to 300. The evo 8 was better than the sti just as the evo 9 is. The sti is close but not better.
As for the second half of the post my entire thread was dedicated to track racing. Nos drag racing and 1/4 mile times mean nothing to me.
Drag racing is fine and dandy. Comparable to an incomplete bodybuilder in the car world. Bascially a drag car is the guy with huge biceps no legs shoulders back chest etc etc..... Track cars got it all. Speed for the rear straghts and hendeling for days.
Like i said there is nothing american ride under 100k aside from the zo6 that can take a evo fq on any track. Nothing stock could ever touch it. Ill take my jap and euro cars thanks!
-
you really are an idiot I am sure of it
-
you see ricers are like girls they are quick and smooth but the got no balls. That is the difference a real car has the power to jerk you back in the seat because it has balls
-
Speed for the rear straghts and hendeling for days.
In english please.
I've ridden in an sti on a curvy road and it had no problem with the back sliding out, if you want to nitpick, you can even transfer more of the power to the front.

A curvey road isn't a race track. You did not puish a car to its limit on a curvey road. Not to mention transfering more power to the front would wreak havok on the handeling while on a track. You obv know nothing about racing or cars. I have raced both have you? I said it was a good car. It is not as good as an mr. Not to mention i was talking about an evo FQ in my post. It has 400 horse and would annihilate a sti. But you knew that right?
-
liar!!!!! how dare you doubt body88 he obviously is the sti, evo car god
Haha ok "scooter". With a name like that I would bet you drive a focus aaaahahahah.

i have not agreed with every thing you have said on this thread but as a avid scca, drag racer and just strait up high performance car, motorcycle builder and enthusiast i have driven about any kind of car you can think of and although i preferr the STI over the evo i believe the evo is a slightly better choice for a racer as it has more control but as for as speed they are both slower than what i am used to and the STI is a far better daily driver and just a fun car but the evo is still a better car for the track
-

I agree the sti is a better all around car. but for track racing like you said it is better than the sti. The fq is rediculous tho... I read some of my stuff and I dont want you guys to get the wrong idea. I love cars... All cars. I just beleive american cars havce really lost touch with performance and handeling. The gt is a great example of what american cars could be!

yea ok can you not come up with anything better than that. FYI I drive and 04 dodge dakota quad cap with a 4.7v8 I dont have a muscle car because I like trucks more
