I wasn't impressed that the so-called press conference was a packaged presentation by Bob and Dan from the radio show. It seemed to me most of the guys were uncomfortable about answering questions. At least Melvin Anthony had a sense of humour when he commented about another not knowing what he was saying when answering one of Bob's questions. However, when it came to answering a question from the floor about the whereabouts of Lee Priest who qualified for the Olympia Melvin said Lee got spanked for doing the wrong thing. Not one other bodybuilder said a word and that proved that they are all scared stiff of saying anything to upset anyone in the IFBB and therefore place lower than they might in the Olympia. What a bunch of gutless wonders. Not one man on stage supported that Lee should be entitled to make a choice as a professional to compete where he wants. It was as if the subject was taboo. The IFBB executive completely understand and control the sheep that compete in their contests. I understand why they don't rock the boat but I am not impressed.

Yup what role models bbers make! ::)
-
Big guys with small hearts (not literally of course, there hearts are probably humongous), isnt it ironic that one of the smallest bodybuilders is the one with the most heart and courage. Lee Priest towers above the rest of them in that sense.
-
Now I wouldn`t exactly refer to them as being "Gutless". Cowardly, boring, unintelligent and uncharismatic, YeS!

What i don't get is the guy's who will never make or have never made dime 1 from doing an IFBB show. Yea they might have pulled in a few bucks doing a guest pose at a small local show, but why not go with an organization that will put a dollar in their pocket? Take boxer Ricky Hatton for example. He fought and won the welterweight tittle, but found that mixing it up, with is the only style he knows, with bigger, more muscular and stronger welters isn't in His best interest. Dudes like.....Nevermind, they know who they are, and the earning time span is only a few years, why not go where you have a chance? The Olympia is a very exclusive club and few are called and they usually have a lock on it for years. These guys need business managers who will look out for them in the long run. Even Derek sees that.

Hey now, stop making sense........... ;)

Did they charge Yates & Haney admission to the conference?

Did they charge Yates & Haney admission to the conference?
They wouldn't dare do that to the two most leading champions of our sport!
-
It was a staged, processed affair. Everyone had their places on stage and knew what to say and what not to say. What a waste of everyone's time.

Sorry

After months of training, dieting , being carb depleted and dehydrated before the show, do you really think these guys have the energy to get into an IFBB debate? I doubt they're really in the mood for all of the chatter.
Also consider that Ronnie is probably the only one who wouldn't be penalized for anything he said. Would you risk all that prep time just to blow it defending another competitor? None of these guys are buds, they're competing for $$$ and not very much at that. I'm no fan of the IFBB but Lee knew the rules. Why should anyone be vocal about letting him compete?

Maybe, just MAYBE these guys dont care what Lee is doing....maybe they are not talking up because they dont believe in Lee's FIGHT.

I agree, they don't care... but they should. A few of them will leave Vegas and go back to their homes & Hummers. Most of them will leave Vegas and go back to their one-bedroom apartments & Golden-Goose monthly bus pass. :(

Bodybuilders have been complaining for years and when they finally have a chance to do something about it they are too scared. Are you saying the reason you didnt do the pdi show was because you didnt believe in what hes fighting for?

I left because I plain and simple wanted to continue to compete in the NPC.
being given a procard would have been an empty feeling for me, after winning my class in 3 national shows...in the end i'd rather just walk away, or start a new venture....i'll be in the masters nationals next year.
if manion came up to me tomorrow and said....vinny, here is an ifbb pro card for what you have done in the npc...i'd turn it down.
lee's fight was never my fight, and i never experienced any of the stuff he descibes how he looks at the ifbb.
i respect his decision, and i hope the pdi works out for him and everyone in it.

It's not that they don't have any guts--they just don't give a shit about Lee Priest. He chose to compete in a non-sanctioned event instead of against equal peers. He isn't their problem, so why comment--for what??
-

It's that way every year. The press conference is boring because no one is willing to step out and say anything controversial.
-
So I guess you don't have Rules in ya gym Basile,so if Lee walks in and takes a shot between sets you wouldn't kick him out???Rules are Rules don't tell me you don't have any old man.Oh and if the young guys said it was fine him shootin up in the gym then that makes it OK.Hmmmm.

I have witnessed what the IFBB has done to bodybuilders over the decades. They have a history of recruiting less than noble people to work with them. They use intimidation to control bodybuilders. Who is going to complain that Lee isn't there? The guys who know they would have beaten Lee could care less that he is not there. Those who are close to Lee will be happy he is not there because everyone moves up a place. That is the mentality of the competitors. The silence of the bodybuilders spoke volumes. They were introduced and came out and sat down in a predetermined seat and kept their mouths shut. This was puppetry to an absurd extreme. It appeared that just about everyone knew where they were going to place. Ronnie wore glasses and for a Christian was cocky as could be. Others were more modest. Bob is a fair presenter but what is the official athlete's rep doing in that role? It is just a bit too convenient. The whole show seems insidious. We can only imagine that the judges, too, are like sheep and will vote accordingly.
At least now we know that Ronnie has a destiny because Jesus has chosen him to be Mr Olympia. He is now thanking God before the contest!

Go to Milos' site for the latest information. There was a link to the video of the press conference which is now on UTube.

Are you serious?
You do realize there isn't much money in rpo bbing, right? Therefore, if another Federation comes along, that may give the bbers an opportunity to earn more, why should they not be allowed to partake? The pros are not property of the IFBB. They are independent contractors. they get NO salary from them, no benefits, no nothing. yet, they shouldn't be allowed to work for someone else if they so choose?
It would be in the bbers best interest to unite and stand behind Lee..........as this isn't so much about Lee, it's about not letting the IFBB tell you where and how to earn a paychek, while not providing the pros with shit........

Thanks.....like i said before, lee's fight his his fight...and i wasn't gonna join the pdi to make a point, and i didn't go back to the npc because i was forced.
I made a decision like lee did...i found no real good reason to join the pdi.

Everyone has to make a decision about who to stay loyal to in bodybuilding. The consequences are real and permanent. That is how low bodybuilding has become. It has been run by two ageing blokes who have lost the plot. They haven't lifted a weight in a very long time. I don't know Manion but he keeps a low profile. I don't like what I see of the way he runs the professional division. It is all such an insiders club and Bob C is another puppet who sings the IFBB song. It has always been jobs for the boys in the IFBB. The humble bodybuilders all know that and they know exactly what is expected to place or win in a show. Lee Priest was never going to be Mr Olympia. He knows that and everyone else knows that. The rest of the guys are unlikely to win that show, either, but as along as they think they have a chance they don't rock the boat.
Something stinks in bodybuilding and it is the IFBB. The bodybuilders have always been sheep. They do whatever is required to win contests. In the old AAU Mr America they used to have an interview and this guaranteed that no muscleheads would win that contest. Today we have another insidious process and the IFBB make sure that only approved of bodybuilders can win their shows. Bev Francis never won the Olympia and yet there is husband Steve now one of the IFBB officials. Will wonders never cease?

Maybe vapid, selfish, shallow or reprehensible, but spineless, now that's just mean.

Vinny, with all due respect to your past bb wins, where do you (in last years shape) think you would have placed at the PDI NOC?
