Listening to the replay now and have to say that whether you like Jay or not, this is one classy guy. He's answering the questions honestly - the guy is very down to earth!! ALSO...he is showing a HELL of a lot more respect to Ronnie than Ronnie will ever show him.....or has shown him. Plus, Jay sounds ready to whip his ass in the Grand Prix.....
For Ronnie not to show up at the seminar the day after the contest show's his true colors, people......too bad...........go off in the Sunset, Ronnie......
-
good call...it was easy for him to talk a good game when he was number one,,,but now where is he at....that's the kinda person i have no respect for.

Absolutely - PLus...I didn't know this until hearing this replay now but Coleman didn't even want his 2nd place medals....what a major tool!!!
This guy had to be consoled by Lee Hanet AND his ex-girlfreind Vicki Gates to try and make him appear to be somewhat gracious......does this guy have a huge ego or what??

Definitely a professional class act. 8 Sandows doesn't necessarily make the best overall champion.

Very true.....you gotta have some good character to go with it......
-
Oh...come on! ;) Now...Ronnie is becoming the terrible human being...and Jay is what we all want to be when w e grow up...a golden boy who does no wrong.
-
Ronnie Coleman acted like a sore loser and an asshole. Why flip this on jay? The guy shows class at all times. Your just another sour hater.

lol...IMAGINE MICHAEL JORDAN WALK-OFF THE COURT OR NOT SAYING ANYTHING TO THE FANS AND THE MEDIA AFTER THE BULLS LOST IN THE SECOND ROUND OF THE PLAYOFFS TO THE MAGIC BACK IN 95. WELL, A TRUE CHAMPION CELEBRATES HIS WIN, AND ALSO HANDLE HIS DEFEAT LIKE A CHAMPION. WHAT RONNIE DID, SHOWED ME THAT HE THOUGHT THE SANDOW WAS HIS WHETHER HE DESERVED IT OR NOT, OR HE THINKS THE JUDGES FAVORS JAY THIS TIME AROUND.

Dude....actions speak louder than words.....and Ronnie showed no class at all on Saturday........
If JAY acted like ROnnie did in all the years that he came 2nd to him, I can just imagine what all you Ronnie lovers would be saying.

I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT A GREAT CHAMPION SHOWS RESPECTS WHETHER HE WINS OR LOSE.

Hating on who? This is a great storyline going into 07 if the Beast hangs around. Stop trying to make Ronnie into a bad human being all of a sudden. Dont think he killed anyone. Just a bit of emotion after going for the record. Now say, "Ronnie is a good human being after me and Jay isnt this perfect guy."

Just from my personal experience...
The first time I met Ronnie was at the Atlantic States in 2000 where I competed. I had just got off stage and snuck out the side door to find a bathroom when I see Ronnie sitting at a table in the hallway, setting up his photos. He had a friend there helping him. There was nobody else around.
I approached and asked if I could buy a photo. He didn't acknowledge me right away, so I waited for a minute or so while he finished. Then, without looking at me, he asked "Well which one you want?" I picked one out, handed him my money and waited in silence. He made no attempt to speak. I'm pretty sure that I was the more uncomfortable, dehydrated and hungry guy there, yet there I was trying to NOT piss him off.
After he handed me my photo, rolled my ten bucks into his giant wad of cash, he turned away without saying anything. Still, at this point I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. So I pointed at a banana on the table and asked "how much for the banana" in a joking manner. Ronnie's friend then jumps up and says "You no wanna be takin champs food." Swear to God, it happened just like that.
Jay Cutler:
I was competing again at the Atlantic States in 2001. The week before the show, I was having doubts about how to drop water, so I emailed Jay out of nowhere and wrote a giant email giving him all the points of my diet and prep, and asking for his opinion. Jay responded via email with a long explanation of a safe, non-diuretic drying out process. I used it and placed second.
After the show, I again snuck out to hit the bathroom (and meet my wife, who had Reeses, LOL). This time, Jay was there and was sitting at his table with Kevin English and Frank Sepe hanging around.
I introduced myself, told him who I was and thanked him for the advice. I was in my very best condition to date, and very grateful to him for his time. He brushed it off, tried to GIVE me a photo, but I insisted on paying. Jay was a class act who treated me with respect. I'll never forget it.
That's my experience with the two men. Physique wise, I feel Ronnie is the greatest there has ever been. 98-99 Ronnie is unattainable by any other human being. But this year, he has dropped a few notches, and am I ever glad that Jay was there, in the shape of his life to slay the dragon.
All Hail King Cutler!

did any of you witness this first hand? if not, conjecture and speculation leads to more misinformation...

AWESOME post, man.....I've heard many stories about the two you just mentioned - Ronnie being aloof and rude and Jay being the awesome guy he is. I've emailed Jay out of the blue many times and ALWAYS got a nice and polite response.

Ronnie has been a nice man up until Saturday night. Now...the monster stories are coming out of the woods. GetDumb at its' best!

I've posted my story on various boards for 5 yrs.
Also, Dex was a prick as well.
Titus was aloof, but Kelly was very sweet.
I had lunch with Bob Chick, Tom Prince and King Kamali at the NOC the year Vic M won. I imposed on them while they were eating. Bob pulled up a chair next to him and Tom, and they chatted me up for almost an hour. Great guys. I bought them dessert...
Later, for my next show I contacted Tom Prince and he called me on the phone to discuss diet. As much of a penis as he came off as on these forums, he was waaaaaay cool to me.

Ronnie wasn't there? Man, I'm sure if he would've won he would have been there. ::)
What's up with Ronnie? He doesn't go on the radio, he doesn't go to the seminar....

What...one story???? what other ones have you read?? We're just talking about what a dick he was on Saturday, for the most part.

I've also met Mark Dugdale, who remembered me from our conversations on MM. He was extremely cool.
And Phil Heath in the Denver airport. I put up a whole post about it on MM....He was a classy guy also.
Only bad experiences I've had were:
Vic M- marginally bad, just crowded booth so I'll give him a pass.
Dex- Stared around me, talked to guy behind me THROUGH my face. Asshole.
Ronnie- as stated above.
Lee P- not his fault, he wasn't being a dick, he was just so damn shy that I felt really awkward.
-
Let the record reflect, I'm not hating on Ronnie, but he's coming across as a sore loser. :-X
-
Looks like Jeebus favors on Lee Haney in keeping the record of 8 titles together with sore loser Ronnie

Great stuff, man...I love hearing stories like that.....

There was no fix, but Ronnie like everyone else had a clue of where he was at on Friday night, and caught word of the standings before the announcement. He could have showed more class but oh well, that's why he lost. His karma can only take so much before it falls.

Its called being too cocky.

"You no wanna be takin' champ's food!" HAHAHAAAAAAAAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!! Brutal ebonics ;D
Thanks for the story, we don't hear much about Jay acting like much other than a robot. Sounds like a good guy there.

Champ.....what did his friend think......Ronnie is Rocky Balboa or something?

Ronnie is old, he is grumpy as hell, dresses up like moses and is constantly talking about how he is chosen by god to win etc. sometimes I get the feeling he is not living in the same reality as the rest of us. Is he on some kind of antidepressants/ tranquilizers?? Or, is he just smoking that pipe to much...?
-
Jay may not be the most outspoken or charismatic person, but on all accounts he is friendly, good to fans, good natured, well spoken and will represent BBing as a champion very well.
As much as I admired Ronnie's physique, especially in his earlier victories, listening to him speak was difficult and he repeated the same "god's will" and "I am the chosen one" speech over and over. Not that a good demeanor and being well spoken is a part of judging a BBer, but it sure is a plus for a champion representing our sport to have these qualities.

you aint kidding
I knew those articles he "supposedly" writes were bogus as hell.
