Incline Dumbell Presses (good weight)
« on: October 23, 2006, 12:42:42 PM »
Let me describe my body type first.  Im 5'10'' and weigh 180 being pretty lean.  I am 21 years old.  For the longest time i was stuck at 70lbs in each hand doing incline dumbell presses.  I finally decided to take some creatine after a long layoff from it.  Well i got up to 80lbs in each hand for 6 reps and today, i finally got that 7th rep.  My reps are full reps, from lockout, all the way down...no half reps.  Is this good for being 21 (natural) or should i be at about 100 lbs in each hand by now?

Keep at it bro, im recently 22 and was stuck aswell. 80lbs is about 35kgs, i was stuck on that for ages too and now do 40kg's each hand, which isnt great compared to sum of the guys kicking about here but it aint bad.

Keep setting targets and eat eat eat and ul get ther.

When I was 21 I did exactly the same weight you do!  3 years later I could do 2 reps with 50 Kgs. Now I do 2 reps 60 Kgs!

Try reading it a second time and you will figure it out by yourself. Oh and I don't believe in this half reps garbage. I made the weight touch my chest on every single rep.

If you made the dumbells touch your chest, you are not doing the correct form! I do it wide open (harder)! And I donīt need help to lift them from the floor.

That's good  - but no matter what anyone says don't skip out on good ole fashion incline barbell presses. I was once just working with dumbells for incline and benches and when I came back to regular barbell presses it was weak. So now I alternate - and doing board\safty-rack barbell benches will really boast your all around chest strength.

Hey muscleboy forgive my arrogance I am trying to keep it under control. 70s pounds is good for you. Don't worry about what other people do just try to either get more reps or up the weights a little every workout. Food is very important.

The bench press advice is really good too. You can even do some negatives on the bench and your numbers should go up quickly.

Good luck!

Actually, since my last post, i have gotton 85 lbs in each hand for 5 reps.  Since i have bulked up i feel i have gotten so much stronger.  Everyone of my lifts have improved.  I just hate feeling "fat".

Telling Alexxx the champ how to workout is like telling grant michaels how to fuck. You are out of your league here.
