Ich liebe dich ber alles und noch viel mehr,
und geb dich nie wieder her.  :D

No of course I don't think the typical German girl would fall for that... but for some reason, I think Toxie could carry it off.  Where are you from Freespirit?  Germany... or are you one of those Europeans who speaks 18 languages, lol?

I'm from The Netherlands. Eighteen languages you say, I suddenly remember that I have this beginner course on Spanish. Eight Cd's, and never used it, yet.

Hey , a fellow dutchman!

Germans are big suckers for corny romantic stuff, just listen to something like 'Sternstunden der Volksmusic' haha and you should see some of the soaps they air there. The younger generation isn't as bad though....

The dutch, as traders, and as inhabitants of a land overrun many times by different nations, (Spain, France, Germany etc) the language has incorporated many foreign words (a lot of french). Most speak english reasonable well,  a bit of egrman, bit of french, some spanish. Research has however shown that people greatly overestimate their linguistic knowledge. It doesn't usually reach beyond beginner level.  Hell... a lot of people could be considered intermediate when it concerns their native language...

You're absolutely right, Pizzacat! Though the basics in English are not to difficult for a Hollander to learn and study, it gets a lot more serious when you actually try to have a conversation on a subject that asks for a higher knowledge of the language. If a Hollander knows how to ask for the menu in a restaurant, and understands the dialogue in a Hollywood action movie without reading the subtitles, no doubt he thinks he knows the English language. Oh brother. I only know a little more than basic English, but it's mostly good enough to "communicate" on getbig.   :D
