i think he may fight on for the money, he will know himself when he cant go on. IMO he should quit, the level of competition he is facing at his age can only be described as a serious danger to his health

Mark Coleman strikes me (pardon the pun ;D) as someone who'll take fights until he gets denied a license...

We've all seen guys in there 20's get MUCH worse "beatings".  Think about it, if fighters stopped fighting after losing pretty convincingly most would never achieve a high level of success.   Tim Sylvia had his arm busted and now has a belt.  My friend, phil baroni was in some tough fights and went to Pride to do pretty good.  Think about the great boxers....most have been through battles.  Look at George Foreman, if he listen to nay sayers he would have never won the world championship and won many fights in his 40's.  haha, now that I think of it, Larry Holmes beat the hell (easily) out of the tough Ray Mercer, asked the ref to stop the fight as he was hitting him in his 40's.  Imagine if he listened to critics.

The fight game (mma/boxing) is not for the weak.  It's a tough game and it should not be surprising to see these guys get beat and come back to fight another day.  They didn't become golfers, they became fighters.

would depend on his popularity and the money he would be offered. i dont doubt his heart when it comes to fighting but i think at this time in his career he's mainly in it for the money to support his family.
i've got the impression he's still pretty popular in japan

As long as Mark can get a big payday, I doubt he will retire.

i hated mark coleman when he first came onto the scene(in the early ufc 's)..what can i say,he has really grown on me..i fucking love the guy!! he has got a huge heart(in fighting and family) and i'll always be glad to see him fight..however,if he starts loosing too many fights,i would rather see him retire a legend(as he is) and with dignity..i don't want him to end his career like ken shamrock did(he fought a few to many fights and stayed in the game way too far from his prime years)

like Randy Couture and Bas Rutten, he should go into a wrestling or BJJ type event.  Like Pancrase where these guys can you use their submission skills without having to deal with strikers.  These guys like Ken Shamrock still have game, but they dont have the reflexes to stand and trade punches.  Let them get into events like Royce Gracie does...where you can still show your skills and mentor young fighters.
I'd pay to watch that.

I dont know what else mark can do for money. I dont see him being able to open up a school once hes done with fighting. if he did he would be smart to hire kick boxers and ju-jitsu fighters to teach. Mark doesnt come across as a great teacher.

I disagree.  A guy like Mark Coleman would be very successful with a school.  He can work the wrestling skills, takedowns and defense and like all other schools have guys teach boxing or stand up and Jui jitsu.  That's what Top team and many other schools do.  Also, he can teach wrestling at many different levels.

In Bellmore a there is a place american kick boxing and no one there has acheived anything near what Coleman has, yet it's where phil baroni trained.

Coleman was the Ohio State wrestling coach if I recall correctly, I'm sure the guy knows how to teach and would probably run an amazing school.

Teaching wrestling would be an option. Maybe at the college level.

But I dont think he would be a good MMA instructor. I may be very wrong, but he trained with my friend who owns a jujitsu school. He said mark was cool and mark admitted that he had like 3 different takedowns and was looking for strickly for ground strikes and neck crancks once down.
That would get boring after a while.
