Vitor has always been mentally suspect. He rose fast, never learned how to grind until he fought Couture (and Randy broke him) and could have gotten better had he not left with BTT and stayed with Carlson. As a BJJ black belt, he was too hands dependant, we never saw his best game as far as the ground is concerned. He would give up in fights, something we haven't seen Wandy do, when he was pushed. Bad analogy, Wandy was just matched up with Crocop, and with Hendo (who had a great gameplan and executed). We have to remember, Wandy destroyed Fujita not to long ago. That was a HUGE win.
the sad thing is, this is true. The problem was that almost everyone under Carlson 'debanded' (sp) at that time, so the got Vitor with him. And he was having problems with financial things with Carlson (the same thing hapenned at BTT then he left there too)
The word on the streets here in Brazil is that a little beforte Carlson´s death, Vitor was talking to him to comeback to train with him....
Vitor + Carlson was a unbeatable team...Vitor didnt lost to Couture, he lost to himself. Was full of himselft, didnt trained, was overweight and tought 'hey, i can beat everyone any day' and that was his problem...
From there to now, the 'mental factor' is still his major problem...he has the skills, has the ability, has the potential and now has EXPERIENCE , a thing he didnt had at that time...but he has to work on his confidence...
