please elaborate....where wer there widespread christian honor killings 50 years ago? in fact, wehre were there christian honor killings EVER???
Deedee, please help.
There weren't per se, and I didn't mean to imply that. Being a woman, am the last to condone this kind of thing in any culture, and even when I see a woman in a niqab on the street I want to smack her silly. That being said, the laws have traditionally been lenient on men who commited "murder in the heat of passion," particularly in Catholic countries like Italy or France. Village justice often looked the other way if a woman accused of cheating was found some day with her throat slashed.
Then there's this... a Christian Palestinian girl murdered in '05.

"Religious conservatives are unapologetic; not only do they believe that mass use of an HPV vaccine or the availability of emergency contraception will encourage adolescents to engage in unacceptable sexual behavior; some have even stated that they would feel similarly about an H.I.V. vaccine, if one became available. 'We would have to look at that closely,' Reginald Finger, an evangelical Christian and a former medical adviser to the conservative political organization Focus on the Family, said. 'With any vaccine for H.I.V., disinhibition' - a medical term for the absence of fear - 'would certainly be a factor, and it is something we will have to pay attention to with a great deal of care.' Finger sits on the Centers for Disease Control's Immunization Committee, which makes those recommendations."Just as it's better for gays to get AIDS than use condoms, it's better for a woman to get cancer than have sex before marriage. It's honor killing on the installment plan.
Has it EVER been widespread? What about the Spanish Inquisition and the widespread, wholesale slaughter of "unacceptable" women? I consider the murder of those 6 million, some odd women, honor killings.
