Unified rules will only broaden the appeal of MMA as a sport.  I like the Pride rules, but progress is progress.  Getting on the front page of MSN, ESPN.com signifies that the old guard is finally realizing the appeal of MMA.  Having Dan Patrick mention it is huge.  I am glad to finally see some great potential matches.  Chute Boxe fighters will be at a disadvantage in the cage under AC rules.  But can you imagine a Shogun/Vera war?  Or watching Fedor GNP with elbows?  Dennis Kang/Ace, Hendo/A.Silva, Aoki/Penn, Filho/Hughes.  GSP/Gomi.  Great fights.  I am anxiously awaiting what K1/Elite/Bodog does.  The IFL must be crapping in their pants.

The only reason UFC has the rules it does is cause then they can fight in all the states of America.
If they lobby, and put pressure, (like they do with the laws and the constitution lol) on those states, or they think thier lossing a lot of money, they will lift thier restrictions.

In my state, NY, MMA's being illegal has less to do with rules than with a boxing lobby that wants to keep it out.

I don't know if I'll live long enough to see an MMA event in Madision Square Garden.

This is why I didn't want this deal going down. UFC rules are horrible compared to Pride. No more head spikes either. Should've kept Pride rules, that's the purest MMA is going to get. Now it just gives lesser skilled fighters a better chance to win when they get caught in positions that they would be demolished in under Pride rules, i.e. north/south on the ground. 

You're a moron. Pride is like 90% foreign fighters who don't speak any English. None of BTT or ChuteBoxe do, Fedor doesn't, none of the Japanese do. Only a few like Overeem have any basic grasp of the language.

Actually, what Fertitta said was incorrect. AFC and NFC didn't combine to form the NFL. The AFL and NFL combined to form the NFL. The old AFL disappeared.

In addition the divisions within a league concept doesn't apply to a non-team sport. Do you really think the IFL will work in the long run? Why should a casual MMA fan care about these teams? They don't represent a city or a college.

Let's say Fedor fights Randy, and Fedor wins. Now, Fedor is the champion of both Pride and UFC. Since you only have one champ, what's the point of two orgs?

Ohh i hate the whole stupid team thing... when it comes to MMA.. MMA is an individual sport.. Not a team I agree 100%.. But they could work it with a WWE aspect. who knows what will happen it will be interesting.. You could have fighters jump around. I just dont want them to make a mockery of the sport and make it a soap operah.. TUF is enough like one as it is.. I hate that fucking show.. It makes UFC look like a joke. In my opinion.

But there is one main difference between two. Pro wrestlers perfom way more often than MMA fighters. McMahon split the wwe in two so that wrestlers wouldn't be overexposed by being on two shows every week.

Hell, MMA has the opposite problem. I want to see Fedor and Crocop perform MORE often.

I would love to see those guys fight more often. But when I really think about it if they fought more the fights would be of less quality. But if they would heal faster which would be impossible but if there was a way for them to fight once and a month and be at 100% that would be the shit..

If this is true its a damn shame.Pride has more talented fighters.Ufc has some great fighters but some of the guys, like the last PPV when Tito lost to Chuck,suck.Thiago Alves vs that guy from Peru,WTF was that?Dana White need to quite bieng so greedy and pay those fighters what they deserve.That might help attract better fighters who already have a name in MMA.
