Any Popeye fans?

49 Popeye Cartoons

This cartoon always annoyed me.  Without spinach Bluto could always kick Popeye's ass.  But give him some Spinach and Popeye became an unbeatable superman.  Even as a kid I used to think, "why doesn't Bluto eat some spinach and kick some ass again?"

Anyone else remember that Popeye video arcade game from the late 80s?  Bah!

Doom disapproves.

I just downloaded the ROM for Popeye and pluged it into MAME.  Fun to play that game again after all these years!

I didn't think there were many 80's kids on here!  :D

I didn't play that game all that much to be honest. Something to do with catching Olive's love hearts and dodging beer bottles and Bluto's punches if I remember rightly? But yeah, the good ol' days. Going to the arcade with your mates with a pocket full of shiny 10 pees, and kickin' the ass of some 2d scroller. Ahhh sweet memories  :)

P.s Defender sorted the men from the boys, and I was all man baby........ :P

I just recently started copying my old cartoon collection from vcr tapes to dvds.  Man, nearly 36 hours of unedited, fully violent looney tunes, tom & jerry, the pink panther, etc.

Transfers sound like a lot of time consuming work.  Most of that stuff (Tom & Jerry especially) is available on DVD via Netflix.  I rip disks that I like for later viewing so I always have a reservoir of something to watch: movies, old sitcoms, star trek, etc.

Rent the DVDs then rip them.  Why waste time with transfers to digital when the studios have already done it for you?

Yeah it takes time, but I haven't seen them since I was a teenager so I'm enjoying it  8)

Plus, a lot of the stuff would be considered "politically incorrect" (Injun Joe, etc.) today so I don't know if those are even available for purchase.
