I saw one of his rematches and he looked to be on top of his game. Guys like Randy(46?), Toney, and Foreman proved it can be done! Champions in their mid-forties. I think he could take it again, bringing Foreman out of retirement once more. I know I posted a thread like this a while back, but I'm excited about the prospect of a great making a return.

real karate, just when i question your knowledge or understanding of the great boxing game, you totally blow me away with a post like this.

Only a real boxing fan can make this post and even knew Evander (the amazing evander) beat a very tough fighter in Vinny maddalon.

Maddalon went toe to toe with great fighters and is one tough SOB, but Evander took him to school.

With guys like clemens (BB), randy couture (mma), randy johnson (BB), larry holmes a while ago, Forman we see that hard training is the ket to longevity in a sport.

The one thing that isn't good in boxing is the number of shots a guy takes, that could have effects that prevent a long carreer, but in mma I don't see why it can't become common for 40's to win and be top competitive.

I stop my mma/boxing debate with you, real karate, with this post. My respects to you.

Holyfield will get cut down, the man is too stupid to retire because he still thinks hes the best in the world. I hate seeing people outstaying their welcome in sport - Holyfield could be the Ken Shamrock of boxing. Granted the HW division is still very piss poor, but hes too long in the tooth to make a real impact. I would bet he would get beaten badly by someone like Matt Skelton

I don't know who Matt Skelton is, but I can tell you that there are thousands of 20 something year old boxers out there, bustin their ass everyday HOPING and DREAMING of ever beating a top ten boxer.....Since Evander just did that, do you still think he should retire?

Retire should be something decided by yourself AFTER assessing your skills against the competition and Evander is proving he still is a top ten fighter.

Woukld you tell the 20 something year olds that Evander beats that they are too old or that they shouldn't continue?

If Evander lost any of his last 3 fights including 2 top ten contenders THEN and ONLY then should he think about retirement.

Same with randy Coture...people told him he should stay retired. On th emma boards people were laughing about his chances against Tim.

Could you imagine if he (randy) actually paid ANY attention to those no body's telling him that? We would have never seen the greatest display of mixed martial arts.

When and ONLY when a athlete can not compete should he contemplate retirement. Both Evander, Clemens, Coture are far from that.

With the heavyweight division being so weak right now, I don't see why Hollyfield couldn't win it again. $:-\$
Shannon Briggs(asthma, stamina issues) and a slow ass 7 foot Russian have two of the belts for crying out loud.

haha yes holyfield has always been one of my favorite fighters. Last night i was watching his 2 fights against Bowe on TV, man he is a tough guy, and just a fighting machine.

I think that mid 30's MMA champs will eventually be normal(are they already? ). I'm not an MMA expert but it seems that experience counts the most and you can have diminished skills like speed and still come out on top.

Matt Skelton is an ex K1 fighter that is one bout away from the championship. He has little skill, but is very aggressive and constantly attacks.

However, the future of HW boxing isDavid Haye. Remeber that name.

Don't underestimate that big Russian dude. He might not be the fastest or most technically sound, but you only need to be "decent" when you're 7' 350. He's undefeated, and I don't think Holyfield could beat him. I do think Holyfield could beat any other current champ that's not a freakshow.

I haven't followed boxing as much lately because there aren't enough personalities and big names to make it as interesting as it was in the early 90s. I'm getting back into it though. UFC has got nothing on boxing really...UFC has peaked, boxing has been around forever.

funny how the recent De la Hoya Vs Mayweather was touted as the bout to "save" boxing yet many industry experts and insiders have said boxing is dying a slow death. Why own yourself constantly?

BTW as good as David Haye is, his glass jaw wil;l be his biggest downfall in the heavyweight division. As i have previously said you can have all the skill in the world but a glass jaw wont help you last too long against a decent enough fighter. Herol Graham is the best example of that, and he was 10 times better that Haye

The "big Russian due" (aka Nikolai Valuev) is no longer undefeated having lost his belt on April 14, 2007 to Ruslan Chagaev.

Someone on here posted a stat recently purporting the De La Hoya/Mayweather fight sold more than Tyson vs. Holyfield. Don't know if it's true, but if it is, well it doesn't sound like boxing is dying by any means.

yes it did outsell they Tyson fight, but that is the only big attraction. If you think boxing is secure because of 1 fight you obviously dont know half as much as you think you do. Where are all the superfights? Everyone is either avoiding or being avoided, that is the biggest matchup weve seen in recent years. If numerous industry experts and boxers are saying boxing needs help, then why do you think 1 fight has secured its popularity?

Tyson Vs. Holyfield yet according to Scimowser it's supposed to dissapear.

Why would you assume boxing fans that watch UFC stopped watching boxing? I watch both.
