Leben holding UFC to ransom

Chris Leben has come out and said he cant wait for his contract with the UFC to expire because of financial issues. Basically hes pissed at "only" getting $10,000 a fight after 8 fights in the company. Hes lost 2 out of his last 3 and was destroyed by the Spider, hes gone as far as he can go in the company.

Apparently ICON Sport are willing to offer him more than what hes getting, i say good luck to him and get out. Hes not a main eventer by any standards and if hes not happy getting 10 grand a fight then take a run and jump. There are hungrier, better fighters out there willing to fight for that and probably a bit less.
 
Incidentaly his fight record is 6-2 for UFC, with 3KO's, 2 decisions and 1 sub for victories and 1 KO and 1 sub for his losses

^^^He is supposed to be the MMA coach at TJ's Icon gym in Niu Valley.

i really though 10grand was pretty good for him. lets be honest alot of better fighters are getting less

some fighters are getting a couple grand and under.  A while back ufc salaries where circulating.  Ill try to find it if I can.

Unless a fighter is a draw, he doesn't have much bargaining power.

Who cares about Chris Leben? Answer: No one.

Yes, he is moving there to be their full time coach.  The new gym is not complete yet, but the pictures of what they have so far look awesome.  They are going to bring in big name guys to train there year round.  Apparently big stars are willing to come there for just airfare, room and board to visit Hawaii.

IMO, he should be happy with $10k a fight.  He's nothing more than a stepping stone anyway, his soft chin put Anderson Silva on the map!  Most guys of his level are getting $6k a fight so he should take the money and run...to where I don't know.  Not like he can go to Pride now!

in all fairness anderson silva made a name in pride. anyone that saw him fight before knew he was going to crush leben. leben is an ok fighter but in his not at the top of the food chain..he should be happy fight 4-5 times a yr. to make good money,,getting publicity from the ufc and make money from his buisnesses instead.

50K a year to get your head bashed in? Doesn't sound too good to me...

I hope it makes it (business).  It is in a really nice area with little demand for MMA type training.  Not to mention the pool and jacuzzi's take up a lot of space.  They'd be better off, filling in the pool/jacuzzi and making more space for gym equipment, or matt space.

I like the pools they have.  One is warm and one is cold, but they are both salt water.  They should be good for recouperation.  The gym looks first class all the way.  I wish they had something like that where I live.

Are they salt water?  It wasn't that way when the "Spa" leased that space.  Looks like a really nice place.  If I weren't loyal to O2, and it wasn't so far away, I'd be there.

Leben makes alot more than 50K a year.  Alot of people don't think about sponsors.

Soft chin?  Leben is known for being able to take a hit.  Silva landed multiple blows before Leben finally went down.  I don't like the guy and enjoyed watching the Spider crush his face & ego.  But soft chin ::)
