Trying to get into Boxing..
« on: July 11, 2007, 08:28:00 AM »
I've studied a mixture of Jujitsu, aki taekwondo, wing chun, okinawan kempo (and briefly capoeiraover the course of 7 years. I stopped about 4 years ago and started more of a boxing routine for about a year now. I've also been weight training for the past seven years. I live in Philadelphia and live close to the Manayunk Boxing Club. I've tried stopping by the club twice now, but apparently they have weird hours. I would like to compete because I feel I have trained with fighting. Any suggestions of how to get more involved? Also, what kind of regulations do they have on taking supplements?

Amatuer boxing (in my state any ways) doesen't test at all, for any kind of substance, I don't take anything other than protein and a one a day vitamin, so im not worried.  Although, if one wanted, they could take anything under the sun and not get in trouble.  If all else fails, just ask around at your gym, there is always people who know people from various dojo's and boxing clubs.
