It took two weeks in the shelter, a failed adoption, and a radio appearance, but sweet Lila is finally enjoying the good life in her New England home. Lila was found wandering the streets as a stray and was brought to PAWS, where she spent two weeks waiting for someone to notice how smart, loving, and eager to please she is. She was finally adopted, but was back in the shelter less than three days later when her adopter changed her mind. Looking sadder than ever, Lila still offered a wagging tail and kisses to anyone who passed her cage.
On a hot July morning, Lila got what we thought would be her big break: an appearance on Angelo Cataldi's morning show (WIP 610AM). PAWS was there to to let the public know that pit bulls aren't always bad news. In fact, there is a softer side to many dogs of this breed, despite the horrors created by the dog fighting world, which are currently of particular interest thanks to Michael Vick. Irresistible Lila came along and really turned on the charm! But despite Angelo's pleas for a loving home for Lila, we had the heartbreaking task of returning her to her cage in the crowded shelter.
Hours later, a PAWS volunteer took Lila into foster care. And only three days after that, visiting friends fell in love with Lila and adopted her! She's now enjoying life with her new family -- a professional dog walker, another dog, and a cat -- on 15 acres in Massachusetts. It's a far cry from the Streets of Philadelphia, and Lila couldn't deserve it more.
