I feel bad

I just emptied the ashes of my lil weber into my trash can and then realized there was a lil baby opposum snoozing in the bottom of it....

now it's just laying there stunned and covered with ashes in its little eyes....

I have to fix this to clear my conscience but I'm not sure I wanna touch the damned thing

I just tried too believe it or not....

I took the trash can over to the driveway and grabbed a hose and a milk crate,put a baggy over my hand and picked him up by his lil tail and threw him under the upside down milk crate and by the time I turned the water on he scooted out one of the crate handle openings.....

he left a trail of charcoal ashe's across my driveway

He'll be OK GEo....at least he walked away.

This morning I saw a juvenile squirrel lying on it's side on my deck in the backyard.  My hub wasn't home to deal w/it and I was afraid to touch it (with a shovel)....what if it wasn't dead but just injured? Would I take it to the vet?

So of course I emailed Flower immediately

She didn't respond right away so I called my neighbor whose nanny said he was still asleep.   Then I called my other neighbor who came right away and scooped the poor little guy up (dead) and put him in a trash bag (out of my line of sight behind a tree) and took him away.

there's a family of them living around here so I'd be pretty surprised if they weren't at least distant cousins,I was kind of looking forward to giving the little guy a shower before he/she scurried off......

he would have been the cleanest opossum in the hood...

Did you see Over the Hedge?  If not, IT'S A MUST!!!  ( the squirrel is the best).

Possums are 'sposed to play dead 

Actually, they're pretty nasty creatures  and carry a lot of disease, one that's deadly to horses.
