Arnold Front DB Raises
« on: October 13, 2007, 12:05:34 PM »
I was doing front DB raises for delts, slowly raising each up at the same time to shoulder level.  Then, one day, watching Pumping Iron, I saw a clip of Arnold doing them with DBs in alternating fashion and instead of going to shoulder level, he went higher, almost all the way over his head.  I don't do them quite that high, more like 45 desgrees, still its done wonders.

I was curious if anyone else does them like that.

Now they'll tell you to just do it to shoulder level because anything higher brings the traps into play.  I don't see how that's a bad thing, personally.  Just improves the delt-trap tie-ins.  In the 70's guys used to do 1-arm side laterals the same way, so their arm almost touches their ears at the side.

the guys who crack me up in the gym are the ones who do lateral raises where they bring their hands all the way up to where they're touching above their head. ;D

Like they're practicing for Village People auditions and the dumbbells are helping them add speed to their "YMCA" technique?
