ProElite plans new MMA reality show

Joining the likes of "The Ultimate Fighter" and various other planned mixed martial arts-themed projects, ProElite announced plans Thursday to develop "multi-program MMA content for network TV" with the cooperation of Mark Burnett, who produces popular shows such as ESPN's "The Contender" and CBS's "Survivor."

The untitled initial reality series will focus on former professional athletes Jose Canseco and Herschel Walker, who will lead undisclosed sports stars to train mixed martial arts. The "team" of former greats will do battle with EliteXC talent, with the show's finale touting a "famous celebrity athlete match up."

Sounds good to me  8)

It will fail on network TV, just like the Contender and that other boxing show that was on Fox. He needs to stick to cable.

contender sucked. but i kinda like those shows so i hope there'll be some episodes at least for download  :)

Contender is a hit now. On ESPN. There is absolutely no way this show will make it on Network. Cuban knows this, The Benefactor got canceled after like 2 episodes.  TUF has "stars" coaching it and it does get great numbers, for Spike. Cuban should try to get it on ESPN2 or something. Great idea though, it worked for the UFC.

is contender a hit?  ??? i thought they only did one season, havent paid attention to it... it was staged too much, fights in slow motion and not real time... and the bitching about peoples family life got annoying

Yeah, it's on right now. I am not sure how many seasons they have had though. It's a pretty good show.

i just checked... they're up to season 4 apparantely

i might dl a few episodes and give it a shot
