Folk Metal/Viking Rock.
« on: November 09, 2007, 10:42:13 PM »
Anyone like Otyg or Vintersorg or Finntroll?  Early Vintersorg and Otyg are examples of some of the sweetest music I have ever heard and Finntroll is almost right up there with them with a few of their monsters.  The only problem with most death/folk metal is 99% percent of the vocalists don't have what I would consider a voice that lends itself well to the growl.  Michael from Opeth, though, has easily the absolute best voice out there...course Opeth isn't folk at all....so back on topic, I present to you   FOLK METAL:

One of the sweetest songs ever by Finntroll:

      Vintersorg:

Otyg-although not there absolute best songs:

I have to say, that was a less than desireable response.

I thought that Finntroll video was funny as fuck.  Not bad though, the sortof stuff I would like when I'm there live, but probably wouldn't listen to otherwise.

I haven't been able to see any of these bands live; but rest assured, if I do, I will go apeshit.

hmmm. Why do people from the north parts obsess over the lost viking culture? Perhaps if it was so great they should have not changed? I myself don't lament the days of wearing powdered wigs and stockings

Never heard of "Finntroll", I liked it though. I didn't care for that other stuff though.

Another good folk metal band, "Moonsorrow"....very cool band

Yes, I like Moonsorrow as well, but the vocals are hurting in my opinion.  I didn't throw up any ensiferum but they are daaaaamn good.
