So I played today, second time since Pebble but it was a week later so the last time a swung a club was 11/1. Anyway, I usually get tired and lose interest about hole 12-13 and it happened today. My question is, is golf similar to many sports where you have to “condition” yourself to play? I’m in good shape and have good cardio, but I get tired playing and can watch my game get shittier. Had two pars and still shot a 118. Lost three balls, and shot an 8 on six par 4’s. Still had fun though.
Yes, especially if you walk.
The worse player you are the more taxing it is since you are hitting the ball more and chasing your bad shots.
Most 18 hole rounds take 4-5 hours so the mental aspect is also fatiguing.
Courses are 6500-7000+ yards but you probably walk and extra 2000-3000 yards if you are a bad golfer.
Work on your short game. Wedge, chipping, putting.
Make sure your grip is solid and your alignment is correct.
Then go to the range a few times a week and hit balls with irons, not just the driver.
To be good you should practice more than play.
Take lessons.
If you don't mind being awful then forget doing the above.
Even if you become pretty good the game will still drive you crazy.
Best advices is to give it up.and do something else.
