Best Remedy for a Bladder Infection?
« on: February 19, 2008, 11:54:11 AM »
The thread title sums it up.

...and no, it's not me, but a friend dieting for an upcoming show. Just curious if any of you have had this and what worked to fix it, other then stopping the diet.

Freak, Vet?

I've only had one once. I did the following: got some antibiotics, took cranberry extract gels tabs, & drank plenty of fluids.

YES, Cranberry and more Cranberry....did wonders for one of my competitors, assuming you are talking about a female AJ.

No corn syrup, pure 100% Cranberry if juice form and the extract caps would be a good supplement option.

My advice is to go to the doctor and get appropriate medical treatment.

Agree completely. "Bladder infection" can run the range from a simple urinary tract infection (UTI) to pyelonephritis.

Needs a urinary analysis (UA) and a C and S (culture and sensitivity) to determine organism and antibiotic susceptibilities.

I didn't use cranberry juice - I just took the extract gels. Which I would recommend for Arnold's friend because it's pre-contest & he/she probably doesn't want the excess sugar(s).

Dr...prescribed antibiotics but just looking for something to speed up recovery and ease the pain.
