With Air McNair gone, who do they have in the wings if Kyle doesn't work out, and don't tell me Kordell Jr (Smith).

if Kyle doesn't work out=
?...he hasnt and wont work out. not unless the nfl gives points for throwing a football through the up rights on your knees from the 50 yd line.

they need a free agent qb, cant wait to groom a rookie qb. no one there to groom him anyway.

I like Kyle.  I hope they keep him and start him all sixteen games.  McNair was one of the TOUGHEST players I have seen.  The dude was an animal.  I remember the QB sneak after he broke his ribs.  One of the guttiest performances I have seen.

Boller is not the answer, unfortunately. He's a career backup at this point in his career. He will be the week one starter, though over Troy Smith.

Boller has the physical tools but not a good mind for the game. He has made so many dumb mistakes behind center over the last 5 seasons, that it's laughable. His decision making is highly questionable.

The Ravens will not be fortunate enough to have Matt Ryan fall in their laps at the #8 spot. Instead they will take a defensive player(probably a CB--Cromartie) and select a QB at the bottom of the first round(through trade) or wait until the second round to grab a Brian Brohm or a Chad Henne.

sigh....looks like another season long struggle at the quarterback position. Will it ever end?

The Jets and the pats will be looking to trade down, and if the falcons select Mcfadden the ravens will get Ryan....

I don't see Mangina giving up on Clemens just yet.

If they get Ryan, maybe....

I don't think he will drop that low.

depends on what Atlanta does at #3. They need a QB for sure but might wait until the second round or trade up into the bottom half of the first to draft one.

Atlanta wants defense also. If that scenario plays out then Ryan could fall to #8. But I don't think that happens. I see the Falcons taking Ryan at #3, The Ravens drafting a DE or CB at #8, and then trading up into the bottom half of the first round and making a move to get Henne or Brohm.

So what do you think about Flacco?  Kid looks good.  Boller has a great arm, but he has never truly put it together.  Hes not cut out to be a starter.

If Flacco can be a Drew Bledsoe type player, the Ravens did good. Flacco mirrors the Ravens attitude, and grit. Flacco has all the toold to be a solid NFL qb, we shall see if he can put it all together.

I agree about Flacco. I'm not buying into the low level of competition theory that the critcs are saying. I'll admit that I didn't watch much footage on him prior to draft because I was so sold on getting Matt Ryan, Brohm, or Henne.

After watching tape of him, he absolutely has the physical tools. He may be their Derek Anderson reincarnation, whom they let go as 6th round rookie in '05 to the the Browns.

I just hope he doesn't end up a bust. I keep getting visions in my head about Dan Mcguire out of San Diego State back in '91. Guy was 6'8" and a complete tool as a rookie.

As long as Flacco can make throws, and make reads he will be successful. I think he has the tools to be a solid NFL starter. I can name a shit load of NFL qb's who came from big schools, and can't throw a NFL pass to save their life.

I dont think the Ravens expect Flacco to be Tom brady, or Payton Manning. I think they want a big, strong, SOLID NFL starter, who can stay healthy and won't lose games for them.

Flacco has all the tools to be a good pro, and I think he will.

If their defense stays as strong as it usually is, do you think they can make it to the playoffs this year with Flacco leading the team?

Not ones that cant stay healthy, and don't have the arm strength to make NFL caliber throws. Chad Penington is a great example of this.
