Then children that are born with diseases or abnormalities must be "God given" too. It's got to go both ways, or else people who believe that God is good and infallible have to believe these children don't deserve him.
Hi Oldschool Flip!
I see talents and diseases or abnormalities as very different things. Some people would say that diseases and abnormalities are actually the result of sin - not necessarily the sin of the person born w/it, but that sin came into the world and screwed everything up. Or maybe the disease/abnormality is a result of the mother using crack. Or maybe it's from mutated genes that wouldn't have mutated if sin were not in the world. There are choices and free-will involved imo even if they are someone elses.
Could God have not allowed nature to take it's course? Yes. Why doesn't He allow all babies to be born perfect? I don't know. But the world is no longer perfect.
Let's face it. Genetics alter what happens to people, not some mystical being. I can't stand when people say someone has God given talent. If that's the case then God must want everyone else to be average. And people that are below that or are physically or mentally screwed must be on his shit list.
Oldschool, do you feel that people that can sing, draw or write well are able to do so strictly because of genetics?
I feel that God gives everyone certain talents/gifts but doesn't give everyone exactly the same ones. Some people will use them and some might not.
Science can help determine why people befall from disease at birth. Religious people just call them "special children of God". If they are special, then why make them suffer their whole life?
There are people that are perfectly healthy that feel they suffer their whole life. And some "special" people I have met are the happiest and most loving ones. But I hate to see people suffer too
