KIMBO Threw the Fight
« on: October 05, 2008, 11:18:04 AM »
Kimbo was very upset about Shamrock not being able to fight and he said how unprofessional it was that ELITE let it happen.  He was noticeably upset about not being able to fight Shamrock.  I think he took the fight and to show Elite he can't be fucked with he took the fight and went down on his own.  He was just to happy and his attitude after losing was just too "I don't care" looking.  He kept saying "It's all good" then told everyone to go to his afterparty.  He told the crowd to give it up for the rest of the fighters.  He knew he had to fight to keep his fans and the others happy but he knew he didn't have to win.  Just my opinion which I am having a hard time explaining but I think it is plausible

I don't think he threw the fight because he has more to lose by losing than winning....

I'm thinking maybe he's having a hard time of handling the pressure with the lights and the crowds and the network TV cameras...

Kimbo is a street fighter. This is sports fighting.

Kimbo was beaten by the better sports fighter that night. Period.

He would also be beaten in the "street" by a skilled "sports" figher...assuming his posse didn't get involved.

Two different styles of fighting. You'd be surprised by the number of people with martial arts training that are poor self defense fighters.

I see it in Krav Maga all the time.

It's a completely different mindset and people usually fall back to what they're comfortable with.

If you're talking straight out street fighting with no rules, then yes, straight up MMA would not be the most effective.  I've been doing Krav Maga for several years, so I agree.

BUT!, Kimbo's backyard fights had all sorts of stupid rules like no kicking, no ground fighting, etc.  It was basically back yard bare knuckles boxing...

You do Krav too? Sweeeet! Do you train in LA? I've been training for 3 years now.

Kimbo lost, IMO, because he had to fight a better sports fighter. The guy threw a weak defensive front kick and was able to clear Kimbo's hands for the jab that Kimbo leaned into. It was just enough to stun him and put him on the ground. In the end it showed me that Kimbo simply isn't a MMA fighter - he's a brawler.

Let's be real here. Did any of you watch the replays? The jab didn't KO Kimbo. He got caught while he was off balance and fell.  The fight was stopped because Petruwhateverthefuck hopped on him and started raining down punches and Kimbo, with NO ground game, had no damn idea what to do in that situation and was just trying to cover up.  He really didn't even eat any punches. His lack of experience is what beat him.

That guy hit Sapp with the same punch and put him down too.  And he landed some of the punches while on the ground cause Kimbos eye was fucked up
