Jerry Jones calling out Marion Barber.
« on: December 09, 2008, 05:19:36 AM »
Interesting that he never called out Romo for "only" having an injured pinkie.  "But, it was on his throwing hand and a QB needs it to be healthy..."  Yeah, and a RB needs his legs and feet to be healthy to do his job.  I don't like the Cowboys, but I really respect Barber and for Jones to call him out like that, after not calling out Romo is bullshit.

What are your guys thoughts on a player playing thru injuries, etc?

romo WASNT cleared to play, but marion WAS cleared to play, but he himself said he doesnt think he's healthy, so thats why he's being called out on it ::)

Yeah, ok...that's the deciding factory, huh?  I'm sure the doctors weren't swayed in either case right?  ::)

There's no playoff run to 'save' him for if the team doesn't get in.

But just to be clear, Dallas may have all the offensive talent in the world, but 1) few teams could overcome the number of mistakes they make and still win and 2) bringing Adam Jones back to the lineup has put a curse on the team.

But didn't all the loses with Romo out really set them up to not make the playoffs?  I think Jones is just frustrated and venting, but it's the wrong guy.  With all the turds he has, why not point the finger at some of them?

I agree, the four games without Romo killed their season. Jones is just pissed because he sees what should have been a Super Bowl run disappearing right before his eyes.
The last person he should call out is Barber. That guy runs like a man possessed.

Sun 12/14  NY Giants  8:15 pm
Sat 12/20  Baltimore  8:15 pm
Sun 12/28  at Philadelphia  1:00 pm

They win out they are in.  11-5.  Problem is they close w/3 solid teams.  Should beat the Giants. they have nothing to play for.

Sun 12/14  at Atlanta  1:00 pm
Sun 12/21  San Diego  8:15 pm
 Sun 12/28  Oakland  1:00 pm

Tampa is 9-4 but dallas beat them h-h.  play all dogs but could fall asleep for one game.

i think jones is speaking out of frustration. you gotta remember, jerry jones isn't just an owner who cares about filling seats in dallas, but winning the superbowl.

jones is looking around him at all the talent he has brought to dallas and watching the team, year after year not perform up the standard he expects.

dallas hasn't won a playoff game since 1996 despite jones' heavy pockets.

dallas for the most part is a very over- rated team. their o-line offers romo little protection inside the pocket, forcing him to use jay witten on the outlet constantly when he doesn't have time to make his reads. they are not a team that plays as a unit, but a group of individuals who look to pad their own stats. their defense is suspect as well.

if it were not for romo's ability to scramble so well and make big throws in motion, jay witten's solid, constant dependability and T.O drawing cover 2 the cowboys wouldn't be a .500 team. jones sees this and knows this and is frustrated at the fact dallas, again, looks like it won't make it to the conference finals.

this is ridiculous.

apparently you have never played football. it isn't just enough to win every game, but you must win every down, defensively and offensively and totally dominate your opponent from start to finish. it is a game of pride and exerting your will.

first you never intentionally 'lose' a game going into the playoffs, and especially not to a divisional rival.

all that matters is winning and beating your opponent soundly and building on that for the next game and carrying that momentum into every game thereafter.

'nothing to play for.'

god...

their flat game was sunday at home against philly.

fuck they looked bad.

pierce's lackluster effort on man coverage and not picking up assignments, and that dropped ball by hixon sealed their fate. they did not look like a 10- 1 team.

good teams find ways to win, so we'll see what next week brings. i think the plaxico scandal impacted them more than they care to admit, at least for this game. we'll see how they adjust in week 15. one thing is certain, his missing is going to really free up opposing teams secondaries and make life a little more difficult for manning and the air game. watch for jacobs and ward to get the call to move the ball ton on the ground next week to open up the field a bit.

resting guys against this late in the season against teams that you may meet in the playoffs is always a bad idea, unless they are really banged up. the last thing you want to do is give a divisional rival the psychological advantage of having beat you going into the big 4.

Good points across the board.  I think last year the Giants hanging with NE in the regular season was HUGE in the superbowl.  They believed they could win...

Yes, and that is how they came up with the plan to win.  They saw what they could do in the regular season, and it gave them the swagger to win.  The "blueprint" was formulated in that game.

First, Jones is weak to call out Marion.  Marion is a beast, and his word should be trusted.  He runs HARD and he does it the right way.  Jones never calls out T.O, but T.O is the worst cancer in the locker room. Acting out like a spoiled little girl if he doesent get his way, or if his team plays poorly.  I saw one of the Dallas coaches patting him on the back on the sidelines after the Romo int.  WTF is that?  What is T.O like a little bitch who needs to be calmed down on the sidelines by an adult?  The Cowboys should have a back to spell Barber, period.  The pats 5th string back ran for a 100 yard game when everyone was out.  If barber is only at 70 percent, the Cowboys should have a back who can perform at that level.  That backs 100 percent should be Barbers 70%  Which allows you to lose nothing, but keeps your star from going out for the year.

Jones is delusional.  Wade Phillips is his drooling puppet and connot control the locker room.

Actually Barber's replacement did about as well as Barber has.

It's would be OK for the giants to dip another game, it's a long season plus the off-field distractions. Some of those guys need the rest, and if they're out a loss doesn't have the same effect on the team. NE going undefeated was a big problem for them last year.

fucking well said.

jones will single out barber more quickly than he would TO because barber is the kind of guy who doesn't say shit, just shows up with his hard hat and his lunch box every day for work. if jones singled out TO, can you IMAGINE the fall-out in the dallas locker room and the media? jesus christ. jones needed to express his disappointment and frustration somewhere and unfortunately barber got the bad end of it all.

phillips hold (if you can call it that) on the locker room is tenuous at best. he's not a coach but a babysitter. his job is to coddle TO and keep him happy. keep jones happy. keep romo happy. i actually feel badly for the guy. he's not the disciplinary, in- your- face kind of coach parcells was. i think he's a good defensive coach but i don't think his ability translates well on a team like dallas- but he's the exact type of personality for a coach you need there- just a guy to steer the ship.

everybody is friends when they are winning football games. the true test of a teams character and depth is when you start to lose. now that romo is healthy there is no excuse for dallas- the organisation- not to look internally and see the reality of why they are losing games- they lack cohesion. and i think what you are seeing in the media now is the frustration that this reality brings.

Bingo.  The NYGs will fall asleep at the wheel before the season ends, have nothing to play for in the last 3 games.   Alot of NFL players play for their bling and w####s.  Dont think they play for you the fan.

Case Study #1 - Denver Donkeys upon winning their 2nd Superbowl said the fans dont need a parade.  They already gave them one.

Case Study #2 - A player from a team severals yrs ago that was 0-5 at the team was telling an analyst (Terry Bradshaw) about how the players have comps over the spinning wheels are their cars.  Terry said have comps in practice than maybe you'll win a game.

Dallas 20 NYG 8 (they had nothing to play for) Sunday night.

Played ball for yrs but i wouldnt pay a dime to sit in the snow and watch the donkeys for $120 a seat.  it's cheaper and more exciting to watch a junior soccer game for $5 since the kids are going all out.  College ball is also a better product.

trust me, the giants are not bagging these games. they are as flat as fuck right now and if they do not do something to right the ship in short order, they'll be bounced out of the second round of the playoff's like a bad habit.
