Whatever fits your body type is better. Try anywhere from medium to extra wide to find a respectable groove for you. That's something only you can answer.  If a trap bar is around, use that on DL's. Some people  prefer that over a straight bar. Finds that it saves their back and knees quite a bit.  I do. Good Luck.

Side Bar: Any one really know what happen to Metzer? Other than the Angel dust, etc. And all the other dozens of stories floating around for years. Guy looks like he never touched a weight before. Ray is not looking too cool either. From one of the all time greats in BB'ing, for him to wind up like that is very sad indeed.

Usually it helps if you let your toes point slightly outward, about 11 and 1.

This allows you to shift bodyweight back on to your heels/the midpart of your foot easier.

Thanks for the heads up GEO. Not too many people know this but there is a secret graveyard near Yankton, South Dakota. This is where  people are buried who died from doing 1 & 11 o'clock toe squats. Not only blowing out both knees and pulling their groan, but actually going one step further and meeting sudden death. You guy was one lucky SOB.

1 & 11's are the forth cause of death with-in the USA. Right behind Cancer, heart disease and being bored to death by GetBig. A little known true fact. Thanks again Geo and Good Luck.
