Is texting for girls?
« on: December 22, 2008, 10:21:04 AM »
Texting has become my default mode of communication in my professional life.  I made the switch from numeric keypad to a blackberry and, ultimately, an iphone, primarily for ease of text.

I notice my male clients  seem to initiate a project with phone calls while my female clients seem to favor text.

What say you , getbig?

Texting is for teenagers, seriously, starting projects with text messages is just stupid.  How does a virtual keyboard work better for you than a physical blackberry keyboard, I have both and the physical keyboard is faster than the virtual Iphone keyboard.

Why would texting be for teenagers? It's basically email, except portable and ,therefore, more efficient.

And why would starting a project via text be any more stupid than starting one via phone call or email? Once again, it's basically email except portable and ,therefore, more efficient.

The iphone's keyboard gets criticized a lot, but it's actually pretty awesome. The keyboard works well and the intuitive feature is pretty good (though it could use some improvements.)

I actually prefer clients that text.  You have a written record of project details and the texting format encourages brevity.

I hope you have unlimited text.  It could get expensive texting "I just cracked me one off" to multiple recipients multiple times per day.  ;D

Merry Christmas, amigo.
