Does Mac Danzig Know That Snitches Get Stiches?
« on: February 07, 2009, 09:01:41 PM »
Mac Danzig told us today during an interview to preview Ultimate Fight Night 17, that he's heard that greasing is more widespread than you'd think saying that guys will do it hours before a fight, letting the Vaseline seep into the skin and sweating it out when the fight starts. Even more intriguing was a recent conversation with an MMA fighter who said there are certain baths (mineral oil) that a fighter can take. Once the fight starts and the fighters begin to perspire, it's almost as if he's sweating baby oil. The same fighter said that GSP isn't the only Jackson's Submission Fighting team member who's been labeled a "greaser". An opposing camp made those claims saying, "we do it, so we'd know if they were doing it."

This sort of cheating is much more serious than what GSP's corner was caught red-handed doing and its one reason I think that Shinya Aoki pants should be legal in MMA.

My interest is in what makes the sport more fun to watch. Grappling is a key part of the mixed martial arts. If widespread cheating is giving grapplers an unfair disadvantage, I think spandex pants are an excellent solution.

i remember about ten years ago we had this african american kid who used to rub this crazy skin oil on himself before no gi bjj practice,i asked him what that stuff does,he said it helps his skin stay soft and prevents stretch marks ???.i said oh,okay,im thinking to myself, stretch marks?ive never really heard anyone complain of stretch marks from grappling.but i noticed when i rolled with him it was like trying to grab an eel,if any of you guys fish youll know what i mean, grabbing an eel is pretty much impossible without a rag,it was funny though cause he would do okay on no gi day then on gi night he would get destroyed.i guess you cant oil up a gi,lol.but like any other sports out there, the more the prize MONEY goes up,the more the athletes will try to find any winning edges they can, whether its legal or ILLIGAL.i remember one of my teamates in judo back in the mid to later 90,s used to put ben gay behind his hears, when he got back control on the guy he would pretend he was scratching his ear or rubbing his ear and then rub his fingers across the opponants eyes real quick,he made sure the ref was on the other side of the guy when he did it,all of a sudden you see the opponant squinting his eyes trying to see and my teamate, which im embarrassed to even refer to him as my old teamate, would have a huge advantage.when he told afew of us on the team we just looked at eachother and said, wtf are you doing man?whats the matter?are you that insecure about your abilities you have to cheat?he said,i only do it if im losing or its a close match ???.anyway someone dropped a dime on him to our teacher,a japanes guy named yanizuki, most japanese are honorable and hate cheaters, yanni as we called him, kicked the guy off our team and reported him to the judo commision,3 months later the guy got nailed with the ben gay behind his ears and was banned for 2 years from competing,i was glad.that was a dick move rubbing ben gay in someones eyes, and to top it off he was only getting a metal if he won,not tons of cash.its still wrong even if its for money, cheatings cheating no matter how you slice it.mma doent need this type of vaseline drama in it,i dont believe its going to hurt the sport to any degree but its just not good period
