no, this is real, i'm afraid.

The repubs know they can't stop a vote, so their new annoyance move is to demand that every bill be entirely read on the floor.  it's a move that is never used, but they can technically do it.

Reading some bills would take days.  Even with a speed reader, the one they're demanding be read will take 9 hours (and probably a lot longer).

This means congress loses 1 or 2 days of productivity.  They can't complain about congress moving so slow when they're using a bitchmove technicality to cause it.  Those hours on the floor could be used for much better purposes.

I rather see a few days of congress goes to waste than having a shitty bill passed by an unbalanced congress, the fewer days the Democrats have to spend like crazy the better, a shitty bill can waste a million times more than any other lose that 240 claim.
