Agreed....But with the CURRENT scoring system it is feasible that it was a draw. The guy that walked away without a scratch still was not good enough to FINISH the fight. We would not be discussing this if he was.

If you want a clear cut, non debatable fight, you got to finish it!

Whether or not takedowns, in and of themselves, do actually score points is not a fact.  This is being left up to the discretion of the judges.  In some cases, they have to follow the takedown with some sort of effective offense in order for them to score.  In other cases, the takedown alone does score.  Which is why you are correct.  It shouldn't be left up to the judges.

Take downs and whether or not they should score points is a topic of much debate.  At the end of the day, it's a fight.  One guy got fucked up and the other walked away without a scratch.  As a mater of fact, the whole 10 point must score system is also being debated for the very same reason.

The issue I was making was that i thought it was a close fight score wise.  Takedowns count in the scoring.  This isn't a debate whether a takedown should be used in scoring or not.

Might wanna give Guida the heads up on finishing fights!  Just look at his record, it's littered with decision wins from lay n pray.  A takedown should not add points if your not working to advance position.  Guida's gameplan in the fight was very similar to his fight with Diaz, get a takedown, stay in guard and do as little as possible to look busy.  Diego was clearly the winner in this fight!

Oh brother ::) Look at my first post on this thread.  I wasn't addressing you or your opinions.  I was commenting on how absurd it is for a fight like this to be a split decision.

Correct oh wise mod.  BUT, then the thread went a different direction, of which you obviously didn't pay attention to.  Please pay attention to details MOD.

Good to know.

I'm a tad bit too sarcastic at times i'll admit.  Disregard my comments in the future.

Exactly...Both guys put on a show. Obviously Diego is the better fighter, but anyone fighting Guida knows they are in for a battle.

Yeah.  I really do think Guida is the last gatekeeper of that division.

I was totally impressed with sanchez, though i can't stand the whole fake image thing he does..  Kinda annoying.  I'd love to see a florian rematch

I guess I just kinda think he carries it over the top a little bit...  like now his whole "YES" shouting all the way to the ring.  It's almost as if he likes to go home and watch himself on tv.  Like ppl that like to hear themselves talk...
