Mixed martial arts, more specifically the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has been tremendously growing in global popularity over the past few years. Since 2007, the UFC has held a total of 12 events in countries outside of the United States, including Canada, England, Germany, and Ireland.
The recently released 2009 Year-End Google Zeitgeist lists the UFC as the number 3 fastest rising sports search globally. Topping the list are Real Madrid and US Open, at number 1 and 2 respectively.
