Need Video Camera Advice
« on: January 16, 2010, 07:57:45 AM »
We're going out today in search of a video camera for youtube's. Has to be something that can shoot action from a decent distance. I don't want to pay more than $200-250.00.

JME, I recently bought a Sony video camera that would suit your needs, (I shoot sporting events with it) but it was over $900.

This may be too late but when you go shopping ask one of the sales agents who knows his shit about shooting video with one of those small Kodak digital cameras. The are in the price range you mentioned.

We used one that cost about $130 on a ski trip and one of the kids posted it on YouTube and it was a perfect presentation. Plus this camera is small enough to slip into your pocket.

I'm sure one of these small digital cameras in the $200 range would be more than you would need.

Some of these small digital cameras will have a sticker on them stating that they are "YouTube Compatible" or something like that.

GO to Cnet.com for full details and prices.

For example a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290 (blue) will run from $197 to $230 whereas a decent video camera for your needs would be about double that price

I dont get it.

BTW you are a good GB poster.

You said you made very good money.

Why only spend 200 (1 or 2 hours of work for you?)

on something that seem to be important for you?

What happened?

Its like a waiter refusing to spend more than

eight dollars on a new camera.

Theres some out of touch people on this site, any hd camera will be suitable for regular stuff and theres no such thing as "youtube compatible", youtube converts any format you upload to flv.The amazon deal below comes with a free tripod,if you want a small camera id buy this Coach. If its good enough for Lebron James and the whole Cavs team to use for their vids then Im sure its good enough for you.If your talking tv show/movie like quality then yeah you need to spend more but for youtube?its perfect.

So I guess that means I should go out and pay more for what I need? Something tells me your budget is along the lines of our federal governments. Which precisely why their broke and I'm not.

Thanks, we looked at those today but wasn't sure which one. My wife liked the Canon. We'll go back tomorrow and get that. Thank you!
