CNS Data
« on: February 25, 2011, 04:42:00 AM »
Something clicked in another thread and I recalled having listened in on a few conversations regarding the central nervous system and the role it played in limitations during working out. There are some educated people out there that know more about this than I and I am curious if anyone would like to make any contributions on this subject. The thing we were most curious about was whether or not there was a way to increase the tolerance levels or to strengthen it as you would a muscle..... I will do some research and provide some links when I find some time.

I don't know if it improves CNS functioning beyond "baseline," but vitamin B-6 does support the nervous system.

Jesse Ventura's daughter suffered from a form of epilepsy that manifested in seizures.
Doctors determined it resulted from her body's inability to metabolize B-6.
So, they put her on mega-doses of the stuff, and her seizures stopped.

The dr's attributed the results to B-6's effects on the child's CNS.

In layman's terms it's saying a better knowledge of the way the cns affects fatigue during exercise would be good to have. It is a work of research in progress...

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9000155

Good evidence suggests that increases and decreases in brain 5-HT activity during prolonged exercise hasten and delay fatigue, respectively, and nutritional manipulations designed to attenuate brain 5-HT synthesis during prolonged exercise improve endurance performance. Other neuromodulators that may influence fatigue during exercise include cytokines and ammonia..

Time to study wtf cytokines and ammonia are. Surely this isn't the cleaning agent. Nutritional manipulations, B-6 is probably in there somewhere.
